Nope.  I know med care is free but can't imagine running to the doc for something so minor that I didn't think before I posted (of everyday stuff that could have caused it).  I am not a big fan of docs nor whining to one about something so trivial.  It was likely self-inflicted.

Thank you for your honesty. It's pretty much as I thought>>> Self diagnosis.

Just so you are aware : Wheat germ allergies symptoms do not include swollen eyes. So scratch that off your list and try again,

Nasal or Eye Irritation
After inhaling wheat germ, you may develop nasal or eye irritation as allergy symptoms, MayoClinic.com warns. Nasal irritation may cause sneezing or nasal itching or congestion. Your eyes may also begin to water, tear or itch and can appear unusually red or bloodshot. Rubbing or scratching your nose or eyes may exacerbate allergy symptoms, especially if your hands have also been exposed to wheat germ.

oh peachy lol

Yanno, I got so many 'new' things in the past few weeks that I am unsure.  The kitten for one --God knows what germies she brought along (not to mention I am not used to having a cat litter box in the house because my old cats always went outside then right back in.  Litter is a killer to me, that is gone to the basement now that she knows her way around here now--and this morning I just had to move it.  Thought I was gonna die this morn inhaling the dust of it she twirled around. Tried out a different grocery store that had a whole bunch of coooool stuff that I couldn't find at my other store lol.  So like I said, new cream, new foods--hell, new soap even. shit.

Had dry skin so I thought I'd go all out and get the 6 bucks a bar Olay with moisturizer crap.  Skin is dryer because there is so much perfume in it.  Gone back to my Ivory plain Jane soap lol.  Gezus even the breads I bought were fancy shmancy, different meats.  I'm a walking timebomb of allergies right now LOL.

First thing I'm going to do is get this bratty kitten into a bath then to a vet when I feel better.  Because whatever she is carrying can't be good. I usually wash my cats when I first get them, butttt this one was so crazy howling just from being picked up (abused likely) that I let her take it easy for a bit first.

Quite ill and lethargic lately--beyond my usual lazy self.  Not much of an appetite either.  But waa waa no biggie, will survive.  Just checkin' in on my own whiny thread.  I ain't dead (yet) peeps, don't break out the bubbly too soon LOL

If you are feeling quite ill and lethargic and do not have an appetite, that is an indication that something other than an allergic reaction that is causing your swollen eyes.

Even though you aren't crazy about doctors, it is one of those "better to be safe than sorry" things.

There is stuff called Allerpet that you can buy and apply to your kitten if that turns out to be the problem.

Hmmmm thanks again.  I'm gonna check that out since I can't wash the crazy bitch.  She is tiny and I know how to control cats but the stress of the howling and her distress would be heartbreaking--akin to a screaming baby.

But, since she was so abused I've been all lovey and kissy-face on her. Uhhg baaaad idea.  My breathing is going downhill by the minute because of that.  Swollen eyes gone but today back to itchy scratchy eyes. ffs

Just never heard of being allergic to one cat and not ever being allergic to them in the past.  It must be from her former environment because cat dander is cat dander I suppose.  My other cats (as I said) go outside, eat the occasional rat, bird, mouse and that never effected me.

Uhhg I just wanna swear like a sailor but have not the energy.

Ok, it is time for you to go to a doctor.

Cats can/do carry parasites that can cause blindness. My sister nearly went blind because she picked up a bug from her cat. It wasn't the bug that made her almost go blind but her bodies reaction to it. Seriously, she's just barely sighted enough to avoid being considered legally blind.

There are a lot of things, other than allergies that can be going on and you don't want to guess yourself into a lot of unnecessary complications.

I woke up one morning with my eyes swollen and crusty. Thought I had allergies. Then the bruises started forming around my eyes. Looked like I'd been punched in both eyes. Turned out to be a symptom of my Connective Tissue diseases.

Again, LOTS of things that could be going on. Also, allergies aren't something to scoff at. As someone has already said, anaphylaxis can come on suddenly without much warning. I stay on allergy meds, because allergens trigger my auto-immune responses. I've gone temporarily blind, had my kidneys shut down, etc.

There just isn't any reason to blow off getting a correct and treatable diagnosis, when symptoms persist.

ETA: I don't think you have any of the above, I just wanted to point out that there are a lot of different things other than allergies that can start out as puffy eyes . If symptoms persist more than three days, it is time to take your happy ass to the doctors.

OK... I'll address the easiest one first:

Dry Skin: I have extremely dry skin and actually went to a dermatologist about it. This is the advice she gave me and has helped tremendously. Use cetaphil skin cleanser vs Dove or Basis soap. Take kukewarm baths or showers, not hot, as hot dries you out more. Immediately after bath or shower apply a thick lotion to your skin while it is still damp. Lotions to choose from: Dermasil, Eucerin, Moisturel or Kerri. Apply lotion twice a day. AM and bedtime. If skin is really dry, such as in winter use Nuetragenia Light Sesame Oil, Kerri Oil or Robathol once a day and lotion the other time. My skin has much improved and I don't feel itchy and prunish, since I started that regime.

The Kitty:
You have had cats before, so it is highly unlikly that you have a cat allergy. There are very few trans species diseases. I highly doubt your cat has any germies that s/he has passed on to you. The only one I can think of is toxoplasmosis. They only way to get that from a cat is if the cat eats raw meat or drinks milk from another infected animal. Toxoplasmosis is almost non existant in Domestic cats, but present in a very low percentage of feral cats. And it is spread thru the cats feces. So having a germ, bug or disease from the cat is also pretty much zero.

Cat Litter :

They sell " dust free " cat litter. Clumpable litter has a low dust residue, and Litter Crystals have almost none. You may want to try one of those.

I will say it once again and that's it:
Go to the MD, get an accurate diagnosis.

You are developing more symptoms, symptoms that are not associated with an allergic reaction. It is now 4 days since the onset of symptoms. Allergic reactions to food and drugs are usually self limiting. That means once the food or drug is removed the allergy subsides. Generally speaking: a couple of days and the symptoms are on the down swing during that time, not increasing.

I am linking you to a couple of studies... food allergies are very uncommon and have been being misdiagnosed for years. Less than 2% of the adult world population has actual food allergies.

Ya I know.  Should have known this would happen.  The ol 'go to the doctor' routine, I've said it to others myself here lol.

But I honestly don't go unless I am dyin'...and even then I fight that lol.

I won't bitch about it anymore, sowwwwy.  If I drop dead, I do. Maybe if I feel shitty enough the stubbornness will come out of me out of sheer necessity of getting shit done around here that I am not doing as I usually would.  I never get sick--holy fawwk it is sickening!!

Now I'm scared and getting paranoid lol.  Now my neck hurts, I better not read you gals anymore.  Ya scarin' the beegeezis outta me. haha

Am weak. Being a lazy shitbag. Standing in the shower was effort.  Swept floors, 1 laundry and I'm wiped and it is not even 11 yet.  This is like old peeps talk. I'm old peeps.

Just another maybe for the list. But I have had a similar problem- puffy eyes no apparent reason- and I mean like puffed on top and below and almost can't see. I found putting teabags on them helped, but it takes a while. Anyway, it took me awhile to figure it out. First time I had just delivered a baby and put it down to all the pushing. But then it happened again several months later. And then again. And again. Anyway, it turned out that they had given me ibuprofen in the hospital and that somehow I had developed a sensitivity to it, though I had never had one before. Every time they gave it to me, my eyes swelled up. No one put 1 and 1 together. The next time it happened, I had backache and took ibuprofen... the next time, I had a headache and took aspirin. Finally, we connected the dots and it turned out I have a reaction to NSAIDS and the only thing I can now take is acetaminophen. So, just in case... did you take any medicine the night before your eyes swelled?

Allergies can come on suddenly or build up over time. I developed an allergy just over 2 years ago. To peanuts and all tree nuts. It was so bad that I broke out in hives all over my body and itched terribly. Didnt realize what it was at first. I had eaten a cookie that had walnuts in it. Like I said, I didnt associate the hives with the cookie. As the reaction was about an hour later. Two days later, I was eating a peanut butter sandwich. My lips swelled up and looked like I'd been punched in the mouth. this was immediately after taking a bite of the sandwich. The next reaction was hives, not two minutes later. Next reaction was not being able to breathe. My epi pen didnt help much at all. I ended up at the hospital in anaphylactic shock. I had eaten peanut butter/peanuts, and tree nuts for as long as I can remember. Then wham, big time allergies to them. Allergies to kitties and anything can be like that.
