When the system goes bankrupt supporting all the freeloaders and government fat cats people will have to assume responsibility for their own welfare, and of course they wont have the slightest clue how to do so, which as Europe has shown us the longer the dark day of reckoning is put off the uglier it is when it comes.

Funny how its been working quite well in Canada for more than 50 years and in Scandanavia for roughly 70.

Everyone that is animal wants that, even angleworms.

Why do you insist on saying free?
There is no "Free" we pay via our taxes, please stop lying by pointing out  the free aspect, you only look ridiculous.

And it will come, FOX NEWS or no.

Okay, so let me try to see things from the perspective of these right wingers.

Reasons why I voted Republican..

- I voted Republican because I'm afraid of the imaginary liberal Rush Limbaugh keeps telling me is hiding under my bed.

- I voted Republican because I know I can trust multi-million dollar unregulated corporate entities much more than I can trust other people.

- I voted Republican because I believe any psycho with a couple of hundred dollars should be able to buy enough street sweeper guns and ammo to take out a small nation.

- I voted Republican because we don't need our food inspected, our streets paved, clean water or fire departments.

- I voted Republican because people who are different from me scare the shit out of me.

- I voted Republican because of the elitist Libtard 'truth' I am told I'm smart, good-looking, a Real American Patriot and other bullshit I really want to hear

- I voted Republican because I only give a shit about deficits.. or the constitution.. or illegal wars when there is someone in the White House with a (D) after their name.

- I voted Republican because I believe the Government should police women's vaginas and not say mining companies or the pharmaceutical industry.

- I voted Republican because I can't stand it when the Government spends money on anyone other than me.

- I voted Republican because I'm actually stupid enough to believe that Democrats are giving free healthcare, education and social security benefits to illegal aliens.

- I voted Republican because election results count only when my side wins.

- I voted Republican because freedom of speech only counts when you agree with me, when you disagree with me you're trying to take away my rights.

- I voted Republican because I believe that blowjobs are impeachable offenses but torture, secret prisons and illegal wars are all perfectly acceptable.

- I voted Republican because it's easier than thinking for myself.

I voted Republican in '08 because I trusted McCain more than Obama.

I still don't trust Obama. But I don't trust the GOP now either.

C'est la vie.

I admit that it would have been interesting to see how McCain would have succeeded Bush.

Is there a lot of disenfranchisement among the traditional GOP voters would you say?

Not sure, I'm actually a registered Democrat. I would have voted for Hillary, though I think McCain/Lieberman would have been awesome too.

Obama just never resonated with me, maybe because I'm an antisocial jerk who avoids large crowds chanting and stuff, but I always thought he was terribly fake and wasn't too impressed with the fact that he mostly ran on popularity and speeches.

What the real shame is, certain people here can only make ad hominem attacks or otherwise attempt to belittle others, as they seem totally incapable of logically addressing the subject of any given thread or post.

yes I was surprised .... so pleasantly surprised too It says very nice things about you IMHO.

My closest confidante is rabidly pro-Israeli. We can laugh at each other and listen to each other about that issue too. It's a good thing to have diversity in all aspects of one's life IMHO.

Thanks, Tweaky. I know that I am fallable, and that I don't have all the answers. And I know that I can make errors in judgments as regards matters of ethics and morality, because I have done so. So I consult with Pam (and a couple others; of my 5 closest friends, Pam is a Repub female; Chuck is a HS buddy and also Repub; Randall is a very religious Progressive AA male, Joey is an HIV+ gay Progressive, and Andrew is a Progressive ex-alcoholic substance abuse counselor) and I normally get pretty good guidance.

I also happen to think that the mark of a truly honourable man is one who can admit that he is wrong, and take steps to correct his mistakes, and make amends where possible. There are only a handful of right-wingers who come close to fitting that bill (IMO) that I engage with, and they are not here at CM.

Right now I have what I consider a bit of a dilemna. Legally, there is no question that I am correct. But I just feel funny about it, despite having run it by 3 people, independently, and receiving the same answer. So there I am.

You already know why I support the right of Israel to exist.

You mean there, respectively: enhanced interrogation techniques, enhanced accommodation arrangements, and enhanced diplomatic strategies, I think, Stella.

I did exactly the same. I'm SOOOOOOOOO hoping that a decent Republican will come out of the woodwork in the next year but the more I look, the less likely I see it to be.
