Stephan65 -> Wicca and Dominant women (4/7/2011 10:11:37 AM)

Does any one know or have a handle on what percent if any of the Dominant women here are interested in Wicca. I am only assuming here that there would be some as unlike other main stream religions it is not purely male based or administered. I have recently found interest in it and who would make a better teacher eh ? ...Stephan

LaTigresse -> RE: Wicca and Dominant women (4/7/2011 10:54:45 AM)

Haven't a clue. I took one look and knew it was nothing I would be interested in.

LadyPact -> RE: Wicca and Dominant women (4/7/2011 10:58:25 AM)

The "what percent" questions are always impossible to answer.  I do know that we have one or two semi regular posters who are Wiccan.  I will let them speak for themselves.

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: Wicca and Dominant women (4/7/2011 11:09:32 AM)

Though I adhere to no formal religion, I have an interest in wicca and witchcraft in general. I would venture to guess Fetlife has some wiccan groups, I would start there.

I would post direct links but I have already been mod smacked twice this day, I am attempting to be a good girl.

You know, as Lady P said, it is going to be nigh-impossible to come up with any sort of accurate number.  I would say however, that the odds of finding a Lady that was Kinky and Pagan are probably quite a bit higher than the odds of finding one who was Kinky and Fundamentalist Christian.  That said, again the numbers are likely to be quite small.  For instance, I attend a pagan festival each year that draws nearly a thousand people, and I would say that the number of actual practicing kinky people in that whole group would number less than 25.

My parents are old school Wiccan; they were children of the '60's and very much influenced by the back-to-nature, Gaea concept.  I am a scientist and a skeptic.  If it isn't published in a peer review journal, I probably don't believe it, at least not as literal real world fact.  But I have a lot of respect for the traditions I grew up in, and it shaped me ethically and spiritually.  I don't think it necessarily had much to do with my sexuality, except that I never did grow up with the hangups and taboos that Xtian society tends to inflict on women.

MissJana -> RE: Wicca and Dominant women (4/7/2011 11:22:58 AM)

I know quite a number of people (male, female, trans,Dom/me, sub, switch, etc) who are Wiccan or practice some other pagan or alternative spirituality in the Central Ohio area. Seems to be fairly widespread amongst the people I socialize with.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Wicca and Dominant women (4/7/2011 11:35:37 AM)

I had a sub that was Wiccan.

I think this lifestyle itself attracts a lot of those who have "Alternative beliefs"
This would include Wiccans.

As for the percentage of ladies of that persuasion what are Domme or sub compared to the general population, I don't have good numbers but I'd say it is pretty close to the same as in the general population of folks into WIITWD.

More submissive female Wiccans than Domme.

Does anyone have better numbers?

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: Wicca and Dominant women (4/7/2011 11:37:51 AM)

I do not, and I am very good at pattern recognition, so if those numbers were obvious, I think I would be aware, given my own wiccan interests.

Not conclusive but...something

Know what the best part of the above is?
She is still one of my best friends and she owns a bar.

Find out what percentage of the female populace are gullible enough to fall for fluffy horseshit in general.

Apply that percentage. The results will be close enough for jazz.

HTH.

How do you pronounce that? It doesn't sound like something rude, does it?

Fluffy horseshit huh?

Wiccanism is a religion formally recognized by the United States Government with more than 200,000 followers nationwide.  Wicca has been a recognized religion in the U.S. armed forces since about 1978 when it first appeared in the Army Chaplan's Manual.

Check the fluffy horseshit between your ears the next time you decide to exercise your fingers and type out flippant BS about people's belief systems.

200,000! Wow! That's so impressive!

Actually ... no it isn't. In a populace of 308,000,000, that's fucking tragic :)

Fluffy horseshit.

OttersSwim -> RE: Wicca and Dominant women (4/7/2011 1:21:31 PM)

...nevermind

Jesus started with 12. does that make Him 15,000+ times as fluffy horseshitty?

Yea, fuck you

Any "religion" (and I'm being really generous here, please note) that confers such wonderful and intellectual debating skills on its proponents is bound to appeal to lots of folk.

Oh, no ... hang on ... it doesn't. And it doesn't.

I didn't start the numbers game.

Although I wouldn't argue the central premise that it's all just flavours of horseshit ... but really folks, if you're going to pick one, make it a non-lame one that people don't openly laugh at. Have some self respect ;)

I have a lot of self respect. I also tend to respect the belief systems of others when possible. You implied strongly that anything with 200,000 followers out of 300+ million people must be 'fluffy horseshit'

That, to Me, is playing the 'numbers game' as you call it and yes, you were the one who began it.

If it were all numbers, I guarantee that Islam would call your religion 'fluffy horseshit'. (Actually, they probably do).

That would be tricky for them, or anyone else, to do.
