heartcream -> RE: Feeding people and submission (4/30/2011 12:18:14 PM)

I like to cook and I love to eat. I can tell alot about my compatibility with people if I cook for them and it doesnt work out because I am trying to impress them but it wont come together. I cook all the time and I love my own cooking, so does my family. I gots da mojo in me. I do believe love is the most important ingredient. If I cook for someone and it stresses me out too much I know I should not be cooking for that person or getting too close to them either. It is a barometer for me.

Sure some meals do not come together as well as others but dayum I kin cook!

littlewonder -> RE: Feeding people and submission (4/30/2011 12:48:46 PM)

when I think of food and cooking, in the back of my mind I'm thinking "why am I bothering with this when I could be doing 10 other better things with my life?"

For me it just seems like a time consuming act for something that doesn't last very long. I'd rather be off doing other things than cooking. Give me a quick meal of a piece of fish or some fresh steamed veggies and some cut up fruit I'm more than happy. For me if I can't make it in about 20 minutes then for me I just can't see myself doing it. That's not to say if Master wants me to make him something that is complicated or time consuming I won't do it...I definitely would because well...I'm his slave....but if given the choice? Yeah I"m gonna throw some pasta in a pot, throw some veggies in and be done with it.

It's so refreshing for you to chime in on something that you have no interest in.

I am glad that you think food is no big deal. I am sure everyone else is delighted as well.

Someday you really need to visit the farm. Cooking, wine, painting, laughing........ we would have a blast!

Could you submit to, or dominate, someone who spurned your cooking? (And yes, we're both quite competent home cooks).

I could but probably wouldn't. "Spurning" anything that I do or am would indicate an incompatibility that I probably wouldn't think was worth trying to overcome unless they were a wonderful person. So, as I said, I could but probably wouldn't.

BTW....I don't see a conflict between liking fine wines/dining and also liking "junk" food. It is possible to love fresh, interesting fine cuisine but have a taste for unhealthier stuff as well. It doesn't have to be either/or and I love the variety. It's all about the situation (who I'm with/what they have available, etc).............luci

Wow! What part of the south? I've experienced similar with regards to "red gravy"

Someone disliked my.award winning lasagna! !!!

Oh that would be heavenly! I adore animals, land, plants and sky it would be so wonderful to be at a farm, how many folks have a farm! Then when I cross the border and they have that form ya fill out and it asks whether you have visited a farm or not hehe.

Yum! Yes! I always made them.for parties. Almond bark takes color well, and kids love to help with dipping!

hematitan -> RE: Feeding people and submission (4/30/2011 10:15:46 PM)

I'm kinda used to people close to me not sharing my taste in food -- for one thing, I'm a vegetarian. For another, I just often find that I like things other people don't like, and vice versa. So as long as we could work something out, someone not liking my food wouldn't be the end of the world. Of course, I don't really see myself as a cook, either. It's something I'm decent at, but it's not a major interest or anything that defines me.

Now, if someone was rude or nasty about my cooking or taste in food, that would be a whole other deal. That's just being a jerk, and I don't get on well with jerks.

I don't, either.  I can enjoy a 5 star restaurant one day, and have no problem picking up Round Table or Taco Bell the next.  Mind you, the latter is a very limited option as I'm trying to stay healthy, but I do have a place in my heart for complete junk food. Because I so rarely have it, I consider junk food to be a nice "treat" now and again.

I was just telling the Mister about this thread over breakfast this morning.  I said if he hated my cooking, I couldn't see how either of us could be happy, long term, and he agreed.  We both agreed we'll no doubt have an occasional "omg this is bad" meal, but if he hated my cooking that would be a completely different story. It would be a major incompatibility issue for both of us, because food is so important to both of us.

On the other hand, because food is so important to both of us, that was a major note of compatibility between us, which we both noticed right away.

Sometimes I can spend all day in the kitchen, other days I'm tired and need to do something simple but tasty and healthy.  Today, at his instruction, is one of those days.

MasterSlaveLA -> RE: Feeding people and submission (5/1/2011 12:09:21 PM)

In the whole scheme of things, this wouldn't be anything I'd overly concern myself with.  If both can cook, and are happy to do so, then let each cook for themselves.  Done!!!

sexyred1 -> RE: Feeding people and submission (5/1/2011 12:17:19 PM)

No one ever dated me for my cooking. I cannot cook at all.

Thankfully, my other skills were good enough to keep them happy.

agirl -> RE: Feeding people and submission (5/1/2011 2:40:22 PM)

No-one I have cooked for has ever spurned my efforts. Never, ever.

No-one has ever refused to eat what I created..Crumbs, it'd be awfully rude, apart from anything else! I'm not serving anyone *love* when I make meals, but I've made an effort and no-one I've ever lived with, or loved, took it lightly.......or seriously!

M cooks all the time for me, the children, my mother......any passing mouth, in fact. My eating habits are SO far removed from M's that there's NO sense of anything apart from who's got fed.

I jumped into bed to watch Pride and Prejudice with him this morning with a bag of beetroot crisps and an Easter Egg.  We flopped and nibbled in a suitably decadent manner (ie, we didn't give a crap and neither of us could be bothered to poach eggs)

Anyhow......... in answer to your question......... Food has nothing to do with it but, while I know why M isn't keen on eating in the way I d o(few people would)......... Why did your husbands' *spurn* your food?

Acknowledging, or understanding, what your lady/your man did or tried to do......matters. (to M and I it does, anyway)
Being a rude or an insensitive arse might affect both of us!

i have a hard time taking people who don't take food seriously, seriously. i guess that doesn't mean He couldn't spurn my cooking. But i would expect Him to be able to articulate the reason.

see therein lies the problem... lots of bitches "think" they can cook when actually their food sucks. <My mother happens to be one>

'Bitches' aside (nice way to refer to women in general and your mother in particular, BTW [8|] ), tastes differ. Someone who prefers delicate sauces will likely not be impressed with chili, no matter how awesome it is; and someone who loves heavily spiced Mexican food may well find an incredible yet subtle seafood with clam sauce to be bland as hell.

As to the OP- my ex wouldn't refuse to eat what I cooked too often, but his most complimentary remark was 'It doesn't suck'. He thought that was high praise. When I asked for suggestions on what to make or how to make dinner more to his liking, I got nothing. He was quite content to simply tell me that I couldn't cook- an opinion that has since become a joke with a male D friend when he is in my kitchen getting 'seconds'.

I love to cook. While I am more than willing to learn what my partner likes and how he wants it prepared, if my efforts were continually rebuffed it would be a real problem.

Hell ya that's zactly what I'm thinking... I must admit it takes a certain panache to pull it without offending all dem bitches but somehow I manage to pull it off... But to be truthful even if they did find it offensive I'd do it anyway. Just to push their buttons. That's just how I roll...

I think the mods ought to change your sub-title (pun definitely intended!![;)]) from "deranged" to "button pusher extraordinaire"!!

uncertainlyizzy -> RE: Feeding people and submission (5/3/2011 12:24:01 PM)

I hate cooking and I'm bad at it. I can make simple things and casseroles but most of the time I still manage to be 2 steps from screwing it up completely and/or not meeting someone's tastes. I'm also a bit ocd about textures so what I enjoy eating is strange. That being said? I was raised to eat whatever you were served in a home. If someone else cooks it then I'm going to do my best to eat it no matter what. I was raised in the mindset that if someone served or gave you food then it was only polite and right for you to eat it. They worked hard to do it and so you should appreciate their efforts.
