Nope, I'm not responsible for the content, the Mod's are, and frankly, most of the content posted here is utter tripe, or at least in politics, anyway... Especially from "the regulars".

Pfft, doesn't really matter how many fingers you have if you can count binary on them. Hmm, well, ok, it'd be kind of tough to count very far if you only had one or two...

You know, I think that often times the "regulars" ARE hard on newcomers, but I find it completely understandable as to why - been round the Mistress' Forum lately?

People show up here and post the same twaddle with NO CONCEPT of where they are, or what they, or this place is about.

Most have done almost NO thinking about what they are actually looking for, or why they are here, beyond immediate sexual gratification.

Most have not spent ANY time reading and getting to know this place before they whip their dick out and plop it into their avatar pic and begin post #1 by asking who likes their favorite fetish.

So yea, we are a bit hard on them.

This isn't Hello Kitty Island Adventure....but it isn't rocket science either...

In my opinion, THINKING is required.

If people show up here and make it clear that they haven't thought past their next cumshot, they get what they deserve from us "regulars"...

No I don't feel responsible for the content of the boards, I barely feel responsible for the content of my posts. I'm probably one of the douchebags you're referring to, and I don't really make any appologies for it. When I'm in a crappy mood it shows in my posts, likewise when I'm in a good mood it shows.

As far as the regulars, etc. I do look at when somebody joined now and then, but it doesn't really affect my opinion of them. That is based on their posts. For example, there's one well dressed young man on here who has a very dry wit, when I saw his first few posts, I thought he was a dickwad. Over the next few weeks and reading his subsequent posts, I have come to appreciate his humour and respect his intelligence and insight. So my opinions of posters vary over time as well, some for the better, and some for the worse.

Down in P&R there are a couple of right wingers I really like, even though we disagree on 99.999999% of everything. Again, its based on their posting style and content, and their ability to take a joke and throw one back.

As for the newbs being ganged up on, it does happen. It usually happens when they post something stupid, but a lot of the regulars get away with doing the same thing. I know, I've posted more than my fair share of stupid shit, and rarely get really taken to task for it. I don't know why this is, maybe its just my winning personality, or my wonderful blue shirt. I am guilty of trashing a newb now and then myself, sometimes you just can't resist, sometimes thay are just begging for it. And conversly, sometimes I'll come to the defense of some moron...there's no rhyme or reason to it, it depends on my mood (or maybe it depends on what the voices tell me to do )

well I'm rambling now...that's usually a sign that you don't really have anything to say, so I'll shut up now.

Actually I had no one in particular in mind when I said that.. I was saying that just because you have been posting here for a long time doesn't mean you aren't one (probably would have been a better way of putting it).

depends on the section. I can post stupid crap in the general discussion area , or here (like this thread) and not be taken to task for it. In P&R, forget it!

I probably have trashed a newbie because I perceived them as lashing out at posters whom I enjoy reading... and maybe I am wrong for doing that, or maybe they deserved it... since I am not completely objective, who knows

Julia,

quote:

I have had that experience at fetlife too, and to be honest, most of the fetlife groups can become very insular because they only want a certain type of person posting here. Part of what I like about CM is that I do not get to choose who engages here, and that makes for a more lively and diverse discussion...

I've seen people kicked out of groups there for consistently not following group rules but anyone can join. But each group has it's own flavor there. Just like here. There are times I don't post here as often because the flavor doesn't appeal to my frame of mind. I post more when it does.

Not all of the groups are open...

But what I meant was that on fetlife individual users create a group. The user owns the group and decides who can post and who cannot. Here, we have moderators, and they work for CM. They have a particular TOS that they abide by, instead of a bunch of group with many inconsistent rules. Most of these groups are smallish too. Also, their interface sucks for having threaded conversation

You mean like the term douchebag? Now I know your defense..You never specifically called anyone that but the fact that your using it and implying it instead of coming out and saying it point blank doesn't mean a thing differently to me other than you pretend to be civil while you harbor incivility in your heart.

You interject meanings behind this that I did not intend. That says more about you than what I said...

I was actually attempting some levity in the fact that just because you are a regular does not mean that you corner the market on being a font of wisdom. I actually did not have anyone in particular in mind when I put that there... my comment to Termy was a joke, because I do not engage with douchebags. I do not respond to them, I pass their posts by as persona non grata.

That is MY truth. I do not need it to be yours

Be at peace a prosper, dude.

Yeah, but P&R has its own rules. Actually I have gotten a pass on stupidity there too. I don't know the reason, but I've noticed some others getting a pass as well. There's some posters who always post stupid shit and nobody seems to mind, maybe because they have been consistantly stupid for years, so we kind of look at them like our retarded little brother. And yet others get no breaks whatsoever, no matter where they post.

I think its dependant on history. Somebody will post something that really resonates with me for one reason or another, something really profound, or revealing a really vulnerable aspect of themselves, and I'll remember that. And ever after I am more inclined to cut them some slack. Maybe others are like that. As well you get used to people, I've been reading some folks for years, and their quirks and idiosyncracies (sp?) become familiar...like an old friend who is a dickhead, but you forgive him just because you have history together.

It works the other way as well, sometimes somebody will post something so profoundly moronic and that's it for them. I won't cut them any slack period. They are on my personal shit list for good.

Sometimes I am among the short tempered. Most of the time, I hope I am patient enough to try and understand, as well as respond with minimum "jerk behavior." I try not to take snark personally, when directed at me. I'm forgiving, because I want to be forgiven. I quickly get over unkind words (directed at me or anyone), if I find the person that uttered them, is not generally unkind, and just had a moment.

I'm sorry for being a "bad" regular M

I think this has a lot to do with it....lol

Then I have seen the other side, people coming here that are not tremendously experienced, posting a question about their personal life and then everyone weighing in without any sort of sensitivity. One person will say they are being a victim, another person saying they should leave their mate, another person telling a woman that she is only an "option, not a priority"... and this could be hard to read for the person on the receiving end.

I remember one thread I posted about abandonment that I should have never written. It seems not only did people disagree with me, but they were extremely blunt and personal about it... and I remember that stinging and I remember that I was extremely hesitant for a while about posting my feelings as a result of it. In the end I blamed myself, I shouldn't have put it out there if it could hurt me.

Eventually I give even the moronic a second chance if they stick around long enough

I do look at the number of post . I f I only see a very low number, it makes me not wanting to post. Mostly someone new, looking for attention. It can get quiet funny though (like the german stud guy;) ).

I also look if the op keeps up with the post. You know, he /she keeps on the "conversation" and learns.
