Personally I don't think that there are any bad regulars or bad people here. People are people. Various attitudes, temperaments and ways of expressing themselves. It takes all kinds. The uber-liberals, the ultra conservatives, the pesudo intellectuals and the plain folks with a give'm hell attitude"; they all add their own aspect to the message board. And they are all part of what keeps this place so fun and active. So leave the regulars alone because....."I LOVE YOU MAAAAN!" (........reaching for the bud light.)

First, I'm a long time regular board poster. I like to think I'm not one of the douchebags although I'm sure there are those who think that I am in fact. Everybody is allowed to be wrong. (That'd be them, not me in case you are wondering who I'm talking about)

Well, I cannot think of one person who thinks you are a douchebag... me on the other hand, I am sure that there are..

I agree with just about everything you posted here... we are personally responsible, I love new fresh perspectives, and human beings tend to group people together... no matter what the group they come from.

You mean like the term douchebag? Now I know your defense..You never specifically called anyone that but the fact that your using it and implying it instead of coming out and saying it point blank doesn't mean a thing differently to me other than you pretend to be civil while you harbor incivility in your heart.

You interject meanings behind this that I did not intend. That says more about you than what I said...

I was actually attempting some levity in the fact that just because you are a regular does not mean that you corner the market on being a font of wisdom. I actually did not have anyone in particular in mind when I put that there... my comment to Termy was a joke, because I do not engage with douchebags. I do not respond to them, I pass their posts by as persona non grata.

You consistently assume you know what the hell is going on when you are in fact clueless. You consistently misread what I post in the worst possible way. You consistently twist my jokes into being something they are not. You consistently do the things you accuse me of.

That is MY truth. I do not need it to be yours

Be at peace a prosper, dude.

Same shit, different day. Own up and act like a woman. You actually remind me of the guy I used to go at it with..same inflated ego, same bullshit spins. Always about the other person isn't it.

Well shit. I guess I must qualify as a regular by now. I don't think post count means squat, in terms of credibility, or liability.

As far as responsibility for the content, I will do my part to ensure that the Politics and Religion area doesn't become a bunch of whacko liberals, all sitting around agreeing with each other, and competing to see who can come up with the most offensive way to refer to political figures they don't like.

The only real advantage of longevity is having a decent idea of who the other long-term posters actually are, and getting the inside jokes. It's no guarantee, though. Not very long ago at all, I saw someone with considerably more time in, and posts accumulated than myself, get utterly suckered by a certain internet prick, and still seems clueless about what a fool she looks to those in the know.

I'm going to apologize off of the bat, julia, because I haven't read the whole thread.  I'm a bit tired, so I'm not going to dedicate the time to this that I probably should.  I will do My best though.

Responsible for overall content?  In a sense, yes.  If I create a thread, I hope to make it a worthwhile original.  It isn't just to hear Myself talk.  I hope that people will express themselves, examine what is in their thoughts.  I hope to make a contribution.

Anything other than that?  Sadly, no.  The one hit wonders, drive-bys, and other nonsense, I really have no power over.  This is no different than what we have always experienced and it's not going to change.  Sure, if I treat them well and take the post seriously, it might help someone else.  I'm not perfect, but I do My best.

Shall we talk about regulars?  Elders?  Elitists?  Yeah.  That's a tightrope.  I could sit here and deny it and people think I'm full of shit or I could admit it and people can think I'm egotistical.  Which is better or worse?  I can't say.  I'd be lying if I said none of My words here have gravity.  I'm long past pulling that joke about just being some guy in a basement in Jersey or that I pay some actress to play Me at parties.  Who knows?  It might be worth something.

Do I take account of a person's posting history/count?  Yes, I do.  By this time, I know the difference between a bad day and a pattern.  I just nailed somebody yesterday on the latter.  I'll probably do it again tomorrow.

I still have trouble discerning the difference at times... so I try (sometimes unsuccessfully) to deal with each post from a fresh perspective. That is hard to do with some people, though...

Now my curiosity is piqued as to whom you caught with their pants down, not that I am asking mind you

What level of posting makes someone a "regular"?

Many of us come and go, post alot sometimes, stay away other times.

I don't feel responsible for overall content, only what I post and even then, I don't feel it is of such great magnitude that anyone should get truly upset over it. My ego is intact as it is and someone not liking my post is not going to affect me. If I feel as if I need to clarify something, I will if I like the poster. If not, I ignore it.

Everything I post is my opinion and I don't expect anyone to get it, love it, want or need it. If they like what I say, cool. If not, so the fuck what.

I also completely disagree with the poster who said that online is where you really "know someone". Puleeze. There are hundreds of ways to portray yourself in a false manner online, duh. How naive to think otherwise and to make assumptions simply based on writings, is most likely an incorrect assumption.

It is only when you meet someone, do you get the nuances of a person.

Unless, you are a one dimensional being. Most of us are fairly eclectic, and I post according to my mood. So if I am pissed, I might sound pissed. If I am in a good mood, I post that way. But unless you have actually met me, you have no clue who I, or anyone else really is behind the monitor.

Everyone here could be authentic, or everyone here could be totally full of shit.

In the end, it really does not matter. All that matters to me, is why I am here. It is for the entertainment value, the hotness value, sometimes someone makes me think or learn something, other times people just annoy me.

As far as knowing how someone posts, all that does is make it easier for me to predict what kind of crap the poster will come out with and I am usually right. Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised, but most of the assholes are always assholes.

As for the neverending complaint of regulars bashing newbies...I am so over that thought. Whoever you are, if you post nonsense, someone on the board will bash you.

If you cannot handle the parameters of a message board, don't post. It is as simple as that.

You can get a pretty good handle on character and temperment, Sexy, if you see enough of another person's postings, over a period of time. There are some mighty strange senses of humor floating around in here!

I agree with Rich.  I don't have a problem with saying that I *know* some forum regulars enough to say that I'd want to meet them, or trust them enough to have My phone number, or feel enough familiarity to share some personal things with them on the flip side.  It may not be a perfect science, but there are a number of folks from these forums that I haven't had a chance to meet in person yet, who would be absolutely welcome to dinner here in My home, just on My opinion of them through these boards.
