Presumably he doesn't see executing aristocrats as in any way opposing the feudal system. He can be funny like that...

Indeed, Hunky seems to have very little Enlightenment.

Moonhead -> RE: A question for Europeans about DSK. (5/29/2011 1:17:39 PM)

He probably thinks that enlightenment is something the sparks does when they're fitting new light sockets...

Oh ye of little faith.

The Constitution is why the cleaning ladies word is as good as the banker word.

Oh ye all of little faith.  Look to America as the example..

You know, from time to time I get that sneaking suspicion that your whole persona on this board is just one big, and very well executed troll job. [&:]

Firstly: they aren't created, unless you think some random sperm meeting some random egg is the act of creation? Let me get a few random nuts and bolts, I'll throw them into a bucket and see if a supercomputer comes out.

Secondly: They aren't at any stage equal, if they were equal everyone would have the same haircut and nobody would face persecution because of it.

In terms of the wider question as to if you believe the potential exists for anyone to succeed: yes it does.

Sorry but the Constitution trumps your post.

C'mon pahunk, get a grip, if your country was so good, why do you spend so much time on these boards bitchin about it ?

As to your constitution as each day goes by law professionals are trying to erode it, and succeeding in many cases, it is in the process of being watered down in the name of applying it to modern standards and ways of modern life.

Dominique Strauss Kahn, that is.

Just looking at his case makes me think that in Europe, status matters for a lot more than in the US, and that a man in his position could pretty much do what he wanted with a lower status woman.  Soe of the comments from France seem to disbelieve that his word should be given no more weight than his accuser's.

Am I off base?

The whole thing kinda makes me proud to be an American, where we evidently believe more in equal justice than in Europe.

Damn right, I can't remember a single case of a rich or influential American getting away with something illegal. Gonna emigrate as soon as I can so that I can live in such a perfect country

pahunkboy -> RE: A question for Europeans about DSK. (5/29/2011 6:10:38 PM)

The chamber maid is equal the the IMF banker.

God Bless America.

pahunkboy -> RE: A question for Europeans about DSK. (5/29/2011 6:20:04 PM)

PS- any of our flaws are there due to the undue influence of Old Europe.

Then IMF itself is a good example of the monetarist system that is crammed down are throats and is also against our Constitution which recognizes gold and silver as money- not a central bank.

You won't mind if I ask the Simpson and Goldman families (of OJ fame) for a second opinion on the state of US criminal justice system will you?

calamitysandra -> RE: A question for Europeans about DSK. (5/30/2011 2:25:35 AM)

Did Steve ever come back to his thread, or was this just a hit and run?

Phoenixpower -> RE: A question for Europeans about DSK. (5/30/2011 4:50:51 AM)

I think in this case it was a hit and run [:)]

Moonhead -> RE: A question for Europeans about DSK. (5/30/2011 5:21:37 AM)

Probably doesn't want to listen to hunky blather about the constitution and chambermaids...
