What self respecting Dem would sponsor such a vile and deceptive ad? I thought Grayson was gone. This is going to be one ugly campaign, with the Dems playing race and Mediscare every chance they get.

That's Erica Payne's work... She isn't part of the party any more and there are some real bad vibes. But she's marketing herself to all these little groups that are worried about benefits and shit like that. Doesn't surprise me Shultz is buddying up with her.

Whats wrong with paying for the things that we need?

He isnt saying Joplin will not get any federal relief  as you erroneously seem to believe...

You see, in the real world you cant really just print money, as so many Washington insiders like to pretend.  And we are already so far in debt that the situation has gone far, far beyond ridiculous...

What do you think the voters were saying when they swept Republicans into office in the 2010 elections if not cut the deficit?

You want the death kneel for the election? Congressmen and women who do not pass financial aid for those of Joplin will regret that decision.

And you might want to check your facts because aid is already there, FEMA is on the ground in Missouri now.

FEMA is there to help those in a crisis. FEMA does not have the financing, or the official capacity, to get that town back on its feet.

quote:

Thus far FEMA has been on the scene to help with rescue operations. However, in the long-term the President would likely need congressional approval in order to provide a package of financial aid. Any aid package would have to pass through the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, where Cantor serves in a powerful leadership position. As the Washington Times reports, Cantor said any aid would need to be offset by other spending cuts, "If there is support for a supplemental, it would be accompanied by support for having pay-fors to that supplemental." The term "pay-fors" means either spending cuts or tax increases, and the Republicans have firmly stated that they would not pass any tax increases this year. The Washington Times also points out that six years then-House Majority Leader Tom Delay approved Hurricane Katrina aid without offsetting spending cuts. At the time Delay said it was acceptable to just add the Katrina aid on to the deficit.

A disaster that has affected a whole community is not the time to bargain.
