If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

Hmmm, good point. Not a single Sarah Palin sticker, not a single anti-Obama sticker, not a single... shall I go on?

Yep, it sure looks like and quacks like a mind-snapped Christian.

Thanks. [:D]

That's hilarious. The last time a christian right winger committed an act of terrorism you hauled out the "No True Scotsman" and now you clutch at the vain hope that this guy is apolitical but is a christian terrorist instead.

Brain, I couldn't care less if some woman 500 miles away or 10 miles away wants to have an abortion.
It's none of my business is it?
Does that make me a "Lefty?"

Im in agreement with you there pops. Unfortunately, there are a HELL of a lot of folks on this board and in the Right leaning media that would scream FUKIN' LEFTY into your face for making that statement.

It doesn't matter if you agree 100% with them on other topics. We're in 2 wars (3 if you believe some folks) house prices are shit, the deficit is thru the roof and unemployment is 9% but the R side has chosen abortion to be one of their main planks. Kinda like fiddling as Rome burns.

If Ted Kaczynski is a lefty terrorist for having Al Gore`s book on his shelf, this fundie-nutter is a right-wing terrorist.

Nowhere in the article is it claimed that kens  "terrorist" is a right winger

And its a little on the wild eyed side on your part, ken,  to try to make political hay with one crazy old guy in a nation if hundreds of millions of people. Even if he is a right winger as you say, are you asserting there are no leftist loons marching around out there?

Further, to skippys point (or lack thereof), Obama claims to be a good Christian.

As did Clinton and Gore, Kerry, and Carter, and JFK, and so on.

And there are leftists who are against killing "fetuses"

So this infanticide business is not as cut and dried left vs. right as some may think

So the fact that he tried to kill an abortionist makes him a right winger?   Sounds like paranoid scapegoating to me.   He may have been of any or no political bent he may have just been a nut looking for attention.  That is the bottom line motivation of most assassins.

And if you like to hunt,..."right winger."
Like stock car racing? "right winger."
Support the Troops, "right winger."

Think Oblunder is smart, "left winger."
"Hate stockcar racing and hunting? "Left winger."
Think " more government" can solve all your problems? "Left winger."

Don't you just love stereotypes?

did howie tell you to write that?

Please only do what the voice of the Howie inside your head tells you what to do from now on.

You won't seem like such a middle of the road moderate.

Since you are following your time-tested policy here of throwing out claims without backing them up, I have no idea what you're talking about. I do seem to vaguely recall some people, or some person, taking the position in previous threads that individuals who commit acts that violate Christ's teachings are by definition not "Christians". But I don't think I was the one making that argument.

That said, however, it is not an entirely unsubstantial quibble. It can be applied with considerable legitimacy to churches like Westboro Baptist, and even to Christianity as a whole in support of a claim that the religion is actually Paulism. Moreover, exacty the same argument is frequently employed to counter Islamophobia, i.e., by arguing that the Islamists are in reality just using the Koran as an an excuse, not really following Islam at all. And I don't recall you ever playing the "No True Scotsman" gambit in those threads.

But all that aside, in the present instance there is no evidence (at least that I've seen) to support a claim that the guy is anything other than a religious nut. You just seem to be invested in trying to stir up shit that will get people at each other's throats.

Actually you weren't. Had to look it up to refresh my memory.

Moonhead -> RE: Another right wing terrorist (5/28/2011 2:21:34 PM)

It seems a reasonable point whoever made it, to be fair. Christ's a role model, not an excuse, after all.

That was gracious of you to acknowledge, Ken. Thank you.
