ORIGINAL: juliaoceania And dismissing her as a decent human being deserving the company of other decent human beings is really over the top. Eh. It's reality. If I said fuck 24/7/365, people would take me much less seriously. And, on some level, they would have a point. It would be an indication that I cared more about my own comfort in speaking than I did about theirs in listening to me. A mature, empathetic person needs to be able to consider both. I think you are correct in the social circles you travel in, I think that if you traveled in different circles you would be wrong. Not everyone that speaks without incorporating the F word is a decent person, and not everyone who uses it is indecent. To me a decent person is someone that doesn't make a habit of deceiving others in hurtful ways, tries to pull their own weight, wants to become a better person today than they were yesterday, offers wisdom that they have in their own unique way, and is capable of love. Show me where Hannah's post depart from my personal definition of "decency"? I haven't seen it, and even if there were one or two that did, by and large she follows that path.... none of us are 100% "decent" all of the time. We all grow and change at our own pace, and who I was at 28 is far different than who I am today in my ability to consider others, even if I am naturally empathetic to them, and not everyone is a natural empath. And few of us have great maturity at that age... nor should we.... life is about the lessons, and if we are at the finish line at 30, what the hell do we do with the rest of the time we have left?
