there are two good points to it though.
first, i won't have to read his/her/its dumb assed replies to my fucking posts;
and second, now i can say anything i fucking want to he/she/it and he/she/it will never know what i say. yay!

Not reading all 30zillion pages, just a general comment...

I always find it really bloody weird the way people treat mods. People somehow see them having the power to delete things and silence people and assume this makes them the forum's equivalent of a police officer. They're not; they're the forum's equivalent of a janitor.

Really, it's a long thankless task of clearing shit up and making the place bearable. I don't see why anyone expects fairness or reasonableness, this is the internet and nothing you post counts for anything anyway.

I know, right? They feel I guess that they must announce this to the world because we've been waiting for any news from them. What will they do next!?!?!

if you want to talk further about the fucking topic, do so. how the fuck do the jokes and banter prevent that?

I tend to read the entire thread before posting on it.  I don't want to waste my time scrolling through several pages of sidebar bantering just to find where the actual on-topic conversation picks back up.  I'll end up just closing the thread and not commenting on it.  Do you often enter other people's real-time conversation and entirely change the subject?   I understand often times real-time conversations change course, but when you're in an online forum, there's more people involved in that conversation/topic then just the people sidebar bantering in it.   And it becomes a little awkward when, 3 pages later when the actual topic has pretty much been forgotten about, to drop a comment about the OP in it.  I'm not saying it's not doable, I'm just saying I think it's rude to take a conversation about a particular topic so off course.  I think people don't consider other posters when indulging in endless banter.

But finding 3 or so pages of casual bantering could easily prevent them from adding anything, at that point.
why?

See above.

Actually that isn't the reason at all. :)

You don't really think you'll accomplish anything by stating so do you? Maybe trying to get under someones skin so you can pretend you got them to react?

Like that comment NV? That kind of off topic banter? (not picking on you, making a point)

I understand your point, and heaven knows I flirt and derail and put in jokes (and Quotes of the Day) and such.... I also find the 3 pages of banter annoying too. But I still want to be able to do it! It's a conundrum, it is.

Exactly like that comment. I said earlier that I do it myself, but only once or twice, because then it gets excessive and rude, so I stop. I have nothing against an occasional sidebar (I thought I said that), it's when they go on and on that I think is inapproropriate. And I think you'd be hard pressed to find an example of me doing that.

RF-

My apologies, I had assumed that everything that could be said about the moderation had, and you are correct; I was off topic.Let's see if there is anything left to say on topic, as I was the one guilty of leading it astray.
