Do you enjoy longer BDSM scenes with your male sub but do not want to be bothered by bathroom breaks due urination needs? A very safe and easy option for uninterrupted BDSM play is a medical device call a Condom Catheter (also known as a Texas catheter sometimes). I know what many of you are thinking at this moment, “Wow, I am not a nurse. I cannot safely do that”. Calm down, no nursing degree required for this and yes you can do it and be safe and sanitary. A condom catheter is an external catheter for men (nothing goes inside the body). It is very safe and sanitary to use and requires no medical training. Condom catheters are available is most home medical supply stores that sell incontinent items. Condom catheters are cheap to buy (USA perspective, not sure about other countries). Condom catheters have been around a long time and were designed for men who have bladder control problems, whether you are 18 years old or 95 years old. Condom catheters were designed so that the male could still have an active lifestyle whether he suffered from short term bladder control (recovering from surgery or accident) or long term (weak bladder related to old age or other reason). Condom catheters are a nice reapplication of existing medical incontinent item that can safely and easily incorporated into BDSM play for those who enjoy longer session or bathroom control. A condom catheter is almost the same as a regular condom. It rolls (disposable kind) onto the penis and looks almost like a condom with the exception of there is a small tube on the end of it. Additionally many condom catheters have a light adhesive on the inside of the condom catheter to keep it in place once it is put on whether the person is erect or goes flaccid. The tube on the end of the condom catheter connects to a short piece of tubing which in turn is connects to a leg bag for urine collection. The leg bag is a sealed bag that will collect the urine when the man urinates. Many leg bags have a small valve on the bottom of the bag so it can be removed and drained when needed and reattached if desired. You can see a diagram here. http://www.drugs.com/cg/how-to-care-for-your-condom-catheter.html From a BDSM play stand point the condom catheter can be worn the entire time you are playing or just put on when needed or anywhere in between. Multiple condom catheters can also be used in a session also. Even if you do not intend to do a longer session, a condom catheter could be used as a wonderful mind fuck toy making him think you might keep him bound all night. Length of time a condom catheter can be worn is debatable by doctors. In the medical community you will find some recommend changing a condom catheter twice a day (every 12 hours) to changing it once every couple of days. This debate is driven by those who need to wear a condom catheter constantly due to medical injury. From a BDSM context, assuming this play is occasional and not 24/7, it should not be an issue to wear a condom catheter all day or even 2 days (if you so desire). Personally, I have worn one for 36 hours with no problem. Most condom catheters are of the disposable variety, but there as some kinds that can be reused. I prefer not to use the reusable ones as they will need to be cleaned. In the context of BDSM play it is nice to have something disposable that you do not have to clean. Condom catheters also come in different sizes. The average adult male will generally take a large. But if in doubt ask the assistant at the store. If you are too embarrassed to ask you can also just buy 2 or 3 different sizes and just try them out to see which best fits. A typical disposable condom catheter in the USA is $2/condom catheter. Condom Catheters are available in Latex, Silicone and PVC type materials. Latex and silicone are the most common. Silicone is a nice option if you or your partner has a latex allergy. I am not a fan of the PVC type from a personal point of view. The stretch less and are not a sensitive to be touched through. But all the same the work and the PVC ones are slightly cheaper. I write this in the spirit of sharing information. I know many of you experienced players have this knowledge already. For those who do not this is a nice intro to think about if you like the idea of longer bondage scenes without the need for bathroom breaks for the male sub. Not sure if this is much of a discussion topic but feel to ask any questions either here in the forum or my CMAIL. I learned about condom catheters when I was 24 and recovering from major back surgery while learning to walk again. As I got into BDSM, condom catheter became a nice option for overnight play. Enjoy!
