Did some research. looks like 42 inches is what most people go for. 54 is too long for all of them.

Now, I will need a bigger toy bag. again !~!

I bought Master a sjambok for his birthday. He loves it as do I. It can do permanent damage if one is not careful, but Master says it was easy for him to learn how to control and maneuver. We opted for the shorter one due to lack of play room and it works for us.

i think 42" is the length my friend has, but i do think there's a 36" version -- a shorter one might give more control. like Buzzzz said, the 54" is too long for most people.

practicing on a pillow is a good idea -- it's also a good idea to practice with something that can be damaged, that way you get an idea of what the force required to do that might be.

I like to practice all my floggers, crops, etc. on bushes in the backyeard. VERY "green," sustainable, renewable, etc. LOL! Poor pillows......

reading that makes me think your ex-owner had no clue what he was doing Nueva -- yikes. =(
if someone hit me full force with one, i'd go into self-defense mode, because they would obviously be trying to kill me. it definitely has a limit but is really wonderful when used well. =p

Well I'm pretty sure he didn't hit full force or a bone would have broken (or been sliced through). He just liked to hurt me pretty intensely.

I do consider myself fortunate, though, that nothing broke. Because of my hysterical reaction, he stopped after the 2nd or 3rd blow.

The Mister hasn't touched it. Whew.

I have 2 sjamboks, both are hippo hide which I bought on Ebay. Great shipping from S Africa, and I prefer organic items to artificial/plastic punishment items.
