No, without a human pack leader the strongest (in some cases not the strongest but the most dominant) dog in the pack will assume the role of pack leader as a protection because for them somebody has to lead and even a weak leader is better than none, that's why so many people have problems with training their dogs, they are not pack leaders and don't know how to be, think about it this way, if your dog does what he or she wants at home, why on earth would the dog listen outside? First rule of training a dog is to instill commands in surroundings the dog is familiar with, then slowly expand. If your dog doesn't come to you in the house if called, fat chance that the dog will come back in the park when you let it off the lead...

Exactly my point, if we bring this analogy to Dominant/submissive relationship, leadership should at the hands of the dominant one, otherwise, the weak (the submissive in this case) has to do it. Something I do not want to do in a relationship=- outside world is another story. I will lead and I am a strong one

As with all your writing, I find the OP extremely clear and it generated a worthwhile discussion. Part of me wants to join this discussion, but another, wiser part of me realizes I'd sound like a jaded, elitist prick if I did. Thus, I shall remain under a self imposed gag order.

Doesn't count, girl dog has a thing for peppermints (any mint really, even Fishermen's Friend) and i encourage her after dinner mint as she eats a lot of fish, now the boy doesn't like mints, so I get the doggie toothbrush out, to get to his molars my hand usually disappears in his snout but he seems to think it's a game because he sees the doggie toothbrush, sits back and opens wide...

Methinks this is the type of `disconnect`, or `not rising to the challenge` the OP is speaking about is about as clear as day! Saying you are or will do something, but following your own agenda when it suits you best, is not part of the Domme-sub dynamic. So for instance, when a sub says he will call you one night, but doesnt, and proceeds to then screen your calls in the next following days... Yeah, huge disconnect there. I am not sure if there is a way to bridge that kind of gap, but if there is, Id love to hear it.
