Shit Hanners do you have any idea how much it hurts to snort a piece of grape out my nose? No excuse though, yet she admitted it. That's.....brave. I admit I'm disappointed though, I was hoping for a story about sordid sex somewhere dangerous.

Interesting wound stories....ok. Back in May I took a swim in the wrong place and a big mean fishy decided that I might taste good. I lost a nice big chuck out of the inside of my left leg, including my left labia majora. 47 stitches from the top of my left hip to down inside my crotch (yeah ladies cry now, no one wants stitches in their hole) Mr. Shark than took off my left leg from four inches below the knee. Another 37 staples there. I am now the owner of some very wicked frankenstein looking scars.

You need to understand pain. I think the OP is hip to this but alot of other people need to be. You DO NOT need, nor have the right to a pain free life. When I was in training I got kicked across the room twenty feet, and then came back and told the dude to do it again. Which he did. Nothing broke in that basement that day.

But when I was about eight or so, I had allergies, really fucking bad. I took every fucking drug they would give me. And then some. I quit doing what did not work. I did not quit anything, but I said NO. I then desensitized myself.

All this gave me a strong torso, and not to mention Mom punching me in the stomach at random to keep me on my ---- toes ? What does toes have to do with it ? But you know, for me to maintain. I got to the point where nobody could even think of hurting me by punching me in the stomach. For decades it did not matter, all I had to do was guard my face.

I got cracked ribs twice. And folks, cracked ribs IS broken ribs. It is your muscles that hold it all together.

I'll never be what I once was.

Too bad because I could be one hell of an ally, or an enemy that could send you there. And I had no regrets, ever. Well once.

I broke my arm once, right at the elbow and after going to the ER for X-rays, they put an ACE on me and told me to take some acetaminophen. I was in tears for two days because it was my left arm that was injured and I'm left handed, but then the hospital called and told me that a radiologist finally looked at the X-rays and I had a fracture, I went for the next 6 weeks in a cast and couldn't do anything.

Then, a few years ago, I had my right foot operated on to lower the arch, I spend nearly a month in bed, another 2 in a wheel chair until I was finally to put minimal weight on my foot. It didn't heal properly and after 6 years it is still giving me problems. I'm supposed to have the other foot done, but I've been putting it off. Maybe in a few years when I'm able to take several months off from work--I now have almost 200 hrs. of vacation time accumulated--I'll have it done.

Yeah, I did, that's just vacation time, though...I also have sick accumulated and personal days...if I can manage to save it all for about the next 5 years, I'll be able to do it. Otherwise, I'll have to take an extended leave with no pay.

With my first born, I went through over 24 hours of back labor, finally agreed to a spinal, but still felt not just his head went he was born (his head molded and was quite cone shaped for awhile) but his shoulders, too.

Yes, they did give me a local but it didn't help that much until they were almost done. One of the longest 15 minutes of my life.

Where the heck was the anesthesiologist? Snoozin'? Geez!

Actually, he never left me. He kept tilting the bed board I was on trying to keep the anesthesia where he wanted it. It didn't work. He ended up giving me more, which they didn't want to do, since I'd just come out of labor. I did end up ODing on the double dose of anesthesia and spent the first few hours after my dau was born very shocky.

Sooo....the post op was extremely uncomfortable, but not painful.

It was just bad timing all around. I'm one of those special people who does not necessarily respond to medication the way most others do.

Oh! That reminds me of another area that I find very interesting - pharmacogenetics! If you don't respond to medications the way others do, I wonder if you might be more of what they call an uber-metabolizer for certain pharmaceuticals. They metabolize drugs more quickly than regular metabolizers and so require a higher dose to be more effective. Or maybe you're at the other end of the spectrum where drugs are slower to metabolize and you may be more prone to toxic effects. I find the whole field quite fascinating. :)

Also, natural compounds made of simple proteins seem to work the best for me. Also diluted animal poisons, like therapeutic use for bee stings and pufferfish toxin. (If you ever get anything relative to pufferfish, prepare for a wild time lol)

Er...drug metabolism is not the same as food metabolism. Cytochrome p450 (a class of enzymes in the liver) are responsible for the metabolization of drugs. The type of metabolism of which you speak is something different, except, possibly the toxins from bee stings and pufferfish. :)
