MrSprocket -> Cracked rib (8/12/2011 11:26:27 PM)

I might have cracked a rib today during my combat training, so I'm taking time off. It hurts to breathe to an extent. I guess I play a little too rough lol.

I was wondering if anyone had any interesting wound stories.

It might sound strange, but I'm the sort of person to show off a scar or broken bone and tell stories about how they happened.

I'm not worried about it. Just wanted to learn a little bit more about the people here.

I cracked some ribs in a tumble at the beginning of July. It still hurts!! Hope you're ready for a long slow recovery. [:)]

Well one people here has learned all too much about it. There is no way, they don't even tape up busted ribs anymore. Get some and try, they juast give you pain killers. I don't do pain killers so I think my recovery might have been better than some.

Whatever.

I have a tolerance to a lot of drugs... and pain...

I honestly don't like putting man-made compounds into my body anyways.

Gotcha tots, but the deal is PAIN, how much can you take ? Are you anywhere near 51 years old ? And even at your age have you avoided COMPLETELY painkillers of all kinds for twenty or more years ? I am not saying anything except one thing - you are not as fucking bad as you think you are, and I AM. And that is not bullshit. You get a little pain in the head or foot you go runnin for the shelter of a Mother's little helper, I DO NOT.

And that is the difference. I also don't eat sugar and for the last week almost I stopped smoking cigarettes. The reason will be forthcoming soon,  but not tonight.

Listen. Pain is no issue to me. Yes, I feel pain, however, I know when it is a good time to tend to it and when it is arbitrary to tend to it. If I find it arbitrary, I just block it out.

I understand that I am not as old as you are, and I am not trying to get one up on you, or anyone else, for that matter.

But other than that, whatever. I made this thread to see if anyone had any interesting stories because the idea came to mind, not to be trolled by anyone, especially those who have not taken the time and energy to even remotely try to find out what I'm about.

But it's all good.

HeatherMcLeather -> RE: Cracked rib (8/13/2011 12:15:02 AM)

Termy, not everything is a competition, you know. I honestly have no idea if my ribs hurt more than yours, I don't really care. Mine hurt enough for me. I don't know if my pain tolerance is higher than yours, I don't care. Mine is high enough to keep Hanners happy.

Yes, I take pain killers, I think you're a fool not to, why be in pain unnecessarily, unless you're a masochist and enjoy it, of course.

I probably have you beat on the sugar though, I'm diabetic and have been for years. [:D]

HannahLynHeather -> RE: Cracked rib (8/13/2011 12:24:45 AM)

i've had 3 ribs broken and my jaw broken, and i've been stabbed twice. and yes i took whatever the fuck i could get my hands on for the pain every time.

Aileen1968 -> RE: Cracked rib (8/13/2011 12:38:31 AM)

I was on a cruise from NY to Bermuda and it was the second day, a full day at sea.
Laid down to take a nap in the afternoon before dinner and awoke to a bed full of blood. Freaked out as did my now ex. got into the shower and the blood was literally pouring out of me.
I had fibroid tumors that decided to pick that moment to rapidly grow and rip away from my uterus.
We were too far out at sea for a helicopter to get to us, so I spent the night in the ship's medical facility with my vagina packed to stop the blood loss (estimated at more than 1/3 of my blood supply).
Pulled into port, ambulance to the hospital, stabilized, plane home and straight to my gyno.
I spent the next four weeks in bed.

We need to talk about that.

If you think breathing is bad, wait 'till you sneeze.

Okay what were you and Hanners doing to cause that? Inquiring minds - meaning me - want to know.

natural childbirth and in labor for 2 days
gallstones

two worst pains I've ever felt and both within a week of each other.
I'm still not sure which was worse.
but demerol sure made them both more tolerable

LadyConstanze -> RE: Cracked rib (8/13/2011 10:11:25 AM)

OMG gallstones, never had them but some really nasty gall colics, anything but the gall, broke plenty of bones, had a tumor removed, all pretty painful stuff but I take that over a gall colic every day, that's sheer hell, so nope, don't even want to know what gallstones would be like!

My sister had her appendix removed one week after having a cesarean...yeah painful!

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: Cracked rib (8/13/2011 10:20:20 AM)

Do we get to tell labor stories?

With my first born, I went through over 24 hours of back labor, finally agreed to a spinal, but still felt not just his head went he was born (his head molded and was quite cone shaped for awhile) but his shoulders, too.

With my second born, it was an easy peasy labor (just about anything after 24 hours of back labor is easy), but had issues with the tubal ligation that followed. My doctor didn't think the surgical nurse had enough experience and tossed her out. This was AFTER I had been given anesthesia. It was shift change, by the time they were ready, the anesthesia had worn off and I felt the surgery in it's entirety. Yes, they did give me a local but it didn't help that much until they were almost done. One of the longest 15 minutes of my life.

You just haven't lived until you've felt your surgeon blow air through your fallopian tubes.

NuevaVida -> RE: Cracked rib (8/13/2011 10:59:10 AM)

Fell down some stairs on my birthday and wiped out both ankles - severe sprains with ligament and muscle damage.  Spent the day in the ER.  Could not put an ounce of pressure on either foot (even the sheets touching them made me cry out).  Next two weeks in a wheelchair, next month with a walker, then a cane, and 6 months physical therapy.  Damage to my sacroiliac joint as a result.  That was 3 years ago. The left ankle still hurts, but only for about a minute when I stand from a sitting position.
