You dont find it disturbing that people would actually admit to not voting for someone based upon skin color alone?

No more disturbing than those who WOULD vote for someone based upon skin color alone.

I was talking the other day to a prominent Republican who asked me what I thought John McCain’s strongest issues would be in the general election.

Lower taxes and the argument he will be better able to protect America from its enemies, I said.

Republicans have a pretty good track record with those two.

The Republican shook his head. “You’re missing the most important one,” he said. “Race. McCain runs against Barack Obama and the race vote is worth maybe 15 percent to McCain.”

Sure he's a racist. The fact of the matter is however, you're painting everyone with the same brush who disagrees with Obama, and that is simply incorrect. In fact, it is incorrect for the vast majority who disagree with him. People like Obama. I do as a person. I could live next door to him without a problem and without thinking about his skin color at all.

Often.. which is what I said... does not imply every instance, Stranger.

Fair enough. I'm all over the US. The last 15 years I've been an on the road consultant. I've been all over the US, including North, South, East and West, along with most Canadian provinces. The places I visit are both business and governmental, everything from news organizations to the national nuclear laboratory in Los Alamos.

My personal philosophy when it comes to work is to make the client happy. I do it, and do it well. That fact has saved my ass time and time again, from layoffs to administrative types who issue ultimatums that I sometimes just ignore. I feel for my boss who weathers those storms for me sometimes, but when he's staring at an evaluation that says I learned more from this person than I have with the last three years of consultant's combined, he manages to keep everyone happy.

The point I'm getting to is that part of satisfying clients is to create an empathy with them, one that makes them feel like you're on their side, like you understand their problems, and they know you won't leave them hanging. A lot of just... talk goes along with that, and politics is often part of that talk. Not once has anyone mentioned race. When I go out at home in backwoods Tennessee, people don't talk to me about race. I'm not saying some positions aren't racially motivated. I'm just saying that in travels across the country, that's not what people talk to me about.

I'm sure you can find the racists because they exist. That issue is not something I "often" encounter though in real life. Google now, can lump them all together for you I guess and make it look often. It's just not what I see and not what they talk to me about regardless of whether they love Obama or don't.

Just saying.

No mischaracterization. That republican stated 15% would vote for McCain simply because he was white.

As a businessman, I doubt many would open up about their racial leanings, Stranger.

Often does not mean majority. Racism isn't something you can spot like a red shirt. I worked with a girl for two years before discovering she was racist. When I told her about my native american heritage, that work-friendship ended. Many people do not see it unless its aimed at them.

Dont fucking lie.

I said "No more disturbing than those who WOULD vote for someone based upon skin color alone. "

You responded "Ah then the 15% that republican bragged about who would vote for McCain simply based upon race doesnt bother you either."

That is a very clear mischaracterization which I can now only assume is deliberate and not just poor English skills.

The Democratic party is right of center from an English PoV. MoonHead was correct and no amount of you stomping your feet and demanding it isn't so will change that.

I think that's incorrect, Dems would be centre or slightly left of centre, depending on the political lay of the land with the major parties in the UK. I feel it is slightly misleading to compare the US with Europe when defining political positioning because there are some very notable differences, e.g. there isn't really a strong Christian right in Europe anymore, and so there isn't quite the level of hostility between left and right. It seemed that Obama sometimes accessorised himself with fashionable distinctly leftist garb so must have some strong leftist values but the recession and political reality he confronted didn't allow him to advance them far, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, depending on one's perspective.

The stimulus and Obamacare werent prevented from advancing and you don't get much further left.

True but there was a massive amount of political heat which might have dampened down any further ambitions.

Bullshit. the proof is right there in black and white for anyone who understands English to read. So either learn English or admit you lied. There is no in between. And youve pulled your faux indignation shit when youve been caught before. It doesnt wash.

This is where you got caught. Your comment was directed at those who voted for Obama simply because you feel they did so as a direct result of him being black. You decided to ignore the comment about the 15% who would vote for McCain simply because he was white..,,,

It backfired on you.

Then you dont understand English, because for at least the 3rd time you mischaracterized what I said and its right there for you to see. If your so fragile you cant admit you were wrong, then a fuck off will also be forthcoming.

Did you ever stop and think that maybe he IS doing exactly what his constituents want? And for them making President Obama a one term President is their top priority? Or was when he was quoted?

As for the lack of respect, perhaps it's due to the President whining like a child about Republicans for the last three years. Or his forcing Obamacare down everyone's throat with closed door meetings, and locking Republicans out of the process when he had his super majority.

Face it, our President is a whiny Bitch.

Perhaps it is your skewed partisan perspective. McConnell is a traitor, seeking the ouster and attempting to engineer the failure of a wartime pres....pure and simple. Limbaugh obviously too. Took about 15 minutes for them to call Clinton a traitor just for exercising her right of opposition.

All constituents can vote for somebody else and in no way can a siting member of the house or senate claim to justify filibusters and debt-limit extortion as being what the majority of his constituents wanted.

2. i have zero respect for any of them simply on the basis that they are successful politicians and therefore corrupt fucks unworthy of any respect.
