There is no way to prove you wrong, first off because it is your opinion, and second, cuz I'm not outting my moderators. I will say at least one of their real names would or should make you realize that possibly your opinion may be skewed, as hobbled they definitely are not, and you would definitely recognize their user nicks. However, you are definitely entitled to your opinion. I just can't help but grin because I know who they are.

Dang you tease and tantalize, don't ya!! ;)

This is why I didn't want to reply and went back on my own words and did it anyway. I am not trying to derail comments on how to make the forums better, and appear to have done so. We will have to agree to disagree on this point, and I will step back out and look forward to reading all comments made.

Oh bollocks.  You can claim anything you like, that doesn't make it true.

If you can't handle the answers, don't ask the questions.

Get rid of the whole [Awaiting Approval] on moderation bullshit. If a post is deemed to be out of line yank it and leave it at that. The present system is punitive and in all honesty, childish.

I also think the humour and games should be split.

Polls should be allowed to stay in whatever forum they best  fit on the basis of subject matter.

The Newbie Question forum is a good idea as well, that way only those who wish to take the time to answer will bother, so the oft repeated questions will go there and most newbs will find those answers there.

I'm not keen on the moderation either but it's not because of their gender.  A male moderator is actually more prone to flattery if you use some logic.

I have found, in work settings, a mixture of both male and female work best. If you have too many men versus women the men get all weirdly handsy or talking down to the women and oppressive. If you have too many women, it's just like a bunch of cats tearing at each other and the men are the mice.

In the case of this forum, it is more a bunch of cats tearing at all the many delicious mice who are posting for their amusement. Yes, if they used their special sub males to do some of the moderating, things would be even worse. If they got some Dom bastard, who was just as creepy as those women, but, in a particularly male fashion, it would be even worse. But, someone like you, as far as your clarity, who is fairly tolerant, would be perfect to break this shite up!

Yeah, but, who the .. wants to ask newbies anything? "Hello, newbie, what do you think about caning? Should I do it? " .. "Uhm, I don't know. I'm a newbie." Short lived frigging conversations, those would be!

Ask a Mistress, Ask a Master, Ask a Submissive are for newbies, mostly, already, aren't they? That's who I assumed they were for.

Unless he has turned over a totally new leaf (unlikely given his other posts tonight) that would be a really bad idea if you are looking for fairness and even-handedness.

NO. Where newbs could post their basic questions (or have them moved to) so a newbie would see that forum and go there first.

It would also be a sort of a home free zone, where the old timers wouldn't go unless they felt like answering some newbie questions.

I actually really like this idea. I enjoy pretending to be useful, which means pointing at noobs and grunting and saying "Well, you COULD put that in there with peanut butter... but... I wouldn't necessarily suggest it." ;)

I think I'm more easy to connect with the young crowd.  It's no secret you admire me, after all, and that sort of charisma is ESSENTIAL.

Not really Ask a newbie, but rather, Newbies and those who love them.

Actually, the most serious problem i see is the decline in forum activity and the telescoping of number of regular posters. What i would really want is 20 new, really smart, good posters. But i don't see how the site can recruit people without causing an influx of (for lack of a better word) undesirable posters.

ETA: Maybe it's too much work, but could the site identify people with certain interests (intellectual discourse, experts in various kinks, etc.) from their interest lists, and then advertise the forums to those people?

I don't know about that, she connects pretty effectively with the three of us.

And, of course, there are times, back to the clique, when I choose to ignore people who are causing trouble in regards to me, but, they follow me around and keep posting lies and insults, and, make it uncomfortable for others, but, if I could block them where they couldn't see me, either, problem solved!

It isn't a lie to say that you have over 20 profiles on CollarMe.

Edited to add: If anyone is lying, it would be you, regarding the information on your profile about where you live, your age, your weight and height. That is, if your previous profiles, most being from Tucson, were correct.

My apologies to the OP for derailing this thread.

This is just my 2 copper, hopefully it's taken subjectively.

The individual sections for topics is too broad. I can't believe i'm saying this...I agree with NS; about making more sections for individual topics, not just kink related. Relationships, different types of kinks, ect;. This will drastically cut down on clutter, and allow discussions to be easier to find, and keep new users from constantly asking the same questions.

A suggest regarding this is, allow users to "vote sticky" on a particular thread they like, and if it recieves enough votes to warrant it, you can add it to a "STICKYS" sub section within each topic, this way users can look through all the past threads of discussions and not feel as though they missed out, and can find the answers they seek without making a whole new thread. Each time you "Sticky" a thread you can lock it. If someone makes a post asking a common question, it will be easy to find and refer someone to. You could put this button where the profile icon currently resides. Most people know by now clicking on a name or picture will take you to thier profile. It seems rather redundant to need three features for this.

Another reason threads are constantly being made asking a question about a particular topic, is because the search feature is sometimes inadequate for locating the information you want, or it's buried under a mountain of related threads. And that's only when someone actually uses the search function. Speaking of wich, Add the search bar feature to the top above the subscribe button. This will make it much easier to locate and use for new users and still be accessible for those at the bottom of a thread.

As Thor (snicker) has pointed out, This feature actually exists, but is not easy to locate. Perhaps changing the links at the top to buttons to make them easier to see would be more helpfull. Or simply moving them them to another spot perhaps the left under the CollarMe banner.

A FAQ regarding Terms is indeed a good suggestion, I'm tired of explaining what a munch is and I've only been active a month. Imagine how the long time users feel.

A FAQ on how to actually use the forums, where to find certain features, ect; seems most appropriate.

I know you guys are volunteers and there are not many of you, and I'm gratefull for all that you do. Some of these threads get hijacked far too easily and turn into flame festivals and it really takes away from what CM has the potential to be. So please crack down on the flame wars and hijacking.

Widen the box size of the as the collar turns widget. It's great to have, just that it displays so little in it to get an idea of what is being discussed.

Alternative Lifestryles In The News should really be in casual banter, along with Health and Safety.

I wouldn't stay if that were the case. To be able to make essentially private posts on a public forum is a very bad idea. That is what email is for.

I'm agreeing with some of these.

I would actually prefer for the M boards to be combined without the gender distinction.  I think a newbie board would be great.  That way, if folks want a "kinder, gentler zone" they could have it there.  I'd prefer to see the "Ask A S" board stay the way it is because I notice there are a lot of discussions there that apply more to that side of the kneel.

I think there needs to be something of a rewrite for the FAQ and General Guidelines for the General BDSM Discussion forum.  When the Mods send those little gold notes, it might be helpful to include a copy/paste of the breakdown of the forums.  We're having a lot of folks who don't understand the layout when they join up here.

I believe threads that are three months old should be locked.  If a person wants to "update" a thread, they can write a Mod about opening it.  I'm thinking it would cover such things as the OP who wrote the original to tell people how their problem worked out, those who wanted to update actual news of how court cases were decided, etc.  Otherwise, if the last post is three months old (not talking about the games and such here that stay alive regularly) there's no bumping it.  (The three month rule has been covered on threads several times, but the FAQ section says six months.  Should be changed to three.)

I think we need to get back to not allowing for the kinks or sexual orientations of others to be insulted.

For those cases where one of the upper discussion forums hits a page or more of one liners, it's time to get the thread back on track to the topic and the conversations that have developed.  (Not the 'fun' sections.  Just the upper section.

Go back to the rule of if there is a similar thread on another board or the topic's been started in the last thirty days, that repeat threads (or posting the same question in multiple forums) is not allowed.  I know that one's going to be a judgement call at times, but I think it can be done.

If you're selling it, promoting it, or trying to create an advertisement for goods, services, or products, those posts should be in the appropriate section.

Not really Ask a newbie, but rather, Newbies and those who love them.

Too much of splitting up forums is a bad idea. CM will eventually in that case end up with four hundred different forums and one poster to each of those forums.

It is called winnowing the corn from the chaff. That is the advantage of the principle of 'the survival of the fittest'. So let there be a bit of slaughter of new posters.

If they are not sufficiently bright or lucky to find the forums under their own steam, they will not be missed.
