JadedInnocence -> Cat or Dog? (9/8/2011 11:27:43 AM)

The subject may sound odd, and of course, if asked, which you'd prefer your sub/slave to be like, some may say, "I want her/him to be human."

But, if given the choice between a sub/slave that had only personality traits of a dog, or traits of a cat, which would you prefer, and why?

For any subs/slaves who read this, which would you consider yourself to be more like, and how?

When I say traits, I mean the generic ones, not necessarily breed-specific, which can get muddy, because there are cat-like dogs, and dog-like cats.  I am specifying only because I'm the type to over-think things and go, "What type of dog/cat?" And I don't fancy myself a special snowflake that much, to think I'm the only one, haha.  I'm curious as to the division of answers, in the end, and people's responses.

DiarWolf -> RE: Cat or Dog? (9/8/2011 11:31:49 AM)

Well you know which one I prefer  *smiles and pets*

Kitty slaves always keep you on your toes, which can get exhausting to some people, but I wouldn't want it any other way. It's a challenge, and I love me a challenge *chuckles*

Dog. hands down. Loyal, smart, trainable, happy to please. Could be because i have dobermans lol.

Sorry, but it would have to be breed specific for me because while my first response would be dog there are also many types of dog that I would not give the time of day to.

I hate stupid dogs. I hate nervous yappy dogs. I hate dogs that will not listen......aka STUPID. I hate dogs that purposely misbehave.......aka stupid. There are only a few breed types I like....the rest might be fine for someone else but not me.

Cats are not obedient so they are not slave material.

That's why I said "generic" traits.  The generic traits that most people think of when they think of dogs, in general, are unconditional and unquestioning love and loyalty, obedience, a desire to please no matter what, etc.

Cats, on the other hand, are independent, possess unconditional love and conditional loyalty, are prone to caprice, and so on.

They won't stick around with people who abuse or neglect them, normally.  Cats can, contrary to popular belief, be trained (it just takes longer, and you have to appeal to more of a "what's in it for me?" attitude).  My cat, for example, knows to come when I click my tongue.  This is normally because I click my tongue when it's time to feed him.  He has been trained to know that the click of my tongue is a call for him to come to me.  I think they have the potential to be slave material, just for a particular type of master.

We shall have to agree to disagree. I want a slave that WANTS to obey and serve. Not one I have to brainwash to obey.

As far as I know, all subs/slaves require training.  I could be wrong, and be an anomaly, in that I need to be trained for my Master's preferences... If that's the case...okay.

I don't see it as brainwashing, but conditioning or training; a natural process to get someone, or something to work with you.  As I said, cats have the "what's in it for me" attitude; the answer to which can be, "love, discipline, and attention."  At which point a cat weighs the pros and cons, and makes a conscious decision on whether what you offer is worth what you want and what they can give.

DiarWolf -> RE: Cat or Dog? (9/8/2011 1:19:34 PM)

As a Dom in a M/s relationship...it's all about consent. Like what jaded said a cat will weigh the pros and cons and then consent to be with you. A dog however will beg to be yours as long as you can provide guidance and give them attention. (sometimes to their own determent) A cat refuses to be mistreated, and that is something I can respect in a woman. jaded is mine, and is very much like a cat...from day one she has wanted to serve and obey...she just made sure I was the right one to trust with her mind, body, and soul.

She led on a little bit of a chance, but eventually she consented...key word...consented to be mine. In the BDSM world, trust, communication, and consent are the most important things. She knows what I want, and how I do things...she weighed the options and consented to part of that. All slaves have the option of removing their consent if they feel they are being mistreated...which I would assume is more common in a dog like slave that gives consent quickly rather than through careful consideration. (All of this is probably a moot point anyway if you are looking for male subs rather than female)

Another thing to be said about cat like slaves...they purr...nothing is sexier than a woman purring. IMHO

Whatever floats your boat.

My opinion......you are dressing up human interactions in overly simplified, overly romanticized, animal traits.

Annnnnnnd, apparently thought it would be cool to create a special thread for the sole purpose of making googoo eyes at one another.

Im thinking dog cuz they eat the rabbits and other vermin that eat my plants. My dog enjoys as well cats if they venture into my yard. The whole food chain thing.

Submissives are more like cats in that they are more self-reliant, and will submit to you at any time, ...as long as it suits them and they are in the mood.

Slaves are much more like 'man's best friend' in that they are more loyal, happier to see you when you get home, don't try to take off their collar, enjoy licking your hand if it makes you happy and genuinely want nothing more than the love, affection and attention of their Master.

As you might gather from my nickname, my 'preference' is for the deeper, the more intense, the more committed and the more meaningful.

...just my preference, your mileage my vary.

M4S73R -> RE: Cat or Dog? (9/8/2011 3:47:46 PM)

Having worked with a lot of dogs i have to disagree that dogs are stupid. No dog is stupid. Put if i had to pick a breed it would a Doberman. The entire Breed of dog was made to be a loyal companion dog. Frederic Dobermann bred them in Germany to be exactly that. A companion. Fredric was a tax collector in the late 1800 and needed a intimidating dog to ward off thieves. Dobes are highly intelligent, fiercely loyal, low maintenance. Wanting to please and he things hes a lap puppy. (which if not the case for a 90pd dog) lol

NocturnalStalker -> RE: Cat or Dog? (9/8/2011 4:17:01 PM)

I don't want to hijack your thread, JadedInnocence, but let me point something out here:

-JadedInnocence asks a question.
-DiarWolf answers it.
-M4S73R answers it.
-LaTigresse, a regular here, demeans the post.
-JadedInnocence clarifies what she meant.
-LaTigresse continues being confrontational.
-JadedInnocence responds.
-DiarWolf follows up on his previous response.
-LaTigresse continues being, as some members would call me, "a douchecanoe."

To answer your question, however, I would *purrfur* (lolol) cat-like traits in a submissive.  My experience with cats is that they can be independent yet still know who they belong to at the end of the day.  I hate clingy-types.

No, I asked because I felt like it, told him what I was posting, and he felt like responding.  I have little control over what he types, except that he did have the courtesy to ask me if I minded that he made note of his "claim" on me in the post.  I didn't think this would be a horrible place for it, so I said I didn't mind; I suppose I was wrong.  Thank you for that, I need to be sometimes.

No problem with preferences! ^_^

I don't know if I would consider either "more intense," "more committed," or "more meaningful," however. Those sorts of things are on an individual scale.  I mean, one could say that a tiger is extremely intense, but it can be trained to hop through hoops of fire. Maybe more committed for a Master who abuses them, I could certainly see that...not suggesting you do! But, dogs accept punishment a lot easier.  As for meaningful, I won't comment on that one.  As you said, mileage may vary, and anything I may say on that one would likely be misconstrued as insulting to dogs and their methods of showing love.  It isn't bad, just different.

I will say, I do like dogs quite a bit.  They love you no matter what, you can smack them when they irritate you and, usually, they'll just back off.  I dislike how needy they tend to be, though. It's always, "attention, attention, attention."  I have a Border Collie and a Poodle, along with two cats.  The dogs will throw their attention at me, to the point that I just want to yell, "GO AWAY!"  But, I love them nonetheless.  The cats...well, I feel like when they choose to show that they love me, it's a little more worthwhile; that whole, "anything you don't work for isn't appreciated" thing.  My cat also attacked one of our dogs when he knocked my older daughter down, and made her cry.  But, that's one of those nuanced things, as opposed to the "general consensus" on cat behavior, which is what I prefer to go by in this particular discussion.  I certainly agree that no dog is stupid, though.  On the other hand, it is one of the "generic" traits as seen by a consensus (shown by such ideas as "big, dumb, dog").  I think that their average willingness to return to a situation where they've been abused might be a bad trait, but there are certainly no stupid dogs.  It's just how they were bred.

I want the traits of a human man...sorry but I don't own a cat or a dog and don't wish to, not that I'm not an animal lover but I kinda have an affection towards a human male and I don't have the traits of either....more like that of a mouse. [8D]
