Thanks. That makes a bit more sense, though I would have dumped that job for two different ones in a heartbeat, unless it was a period with something a whole lot better on the other side.

You can't tell me that Hoffa is "in favor" of letting Mexican trucks into this country.

The mexican truck story was back in Feb, pops.

That interview was from September.

And it was last thursday or friday when "the first" Mexican truck drove up to Dallas.

Wilber, the Teamsters will vote against *anyone* who fucks them. They don't give a shit about "parties!" If they think you're going to put money in their pockets "you're in" with the Teamsters.
If you're going to cost them a lot of money for some new "healthcare" plan when they already have one of the best going for much cheaper "you're out" with the Teamsters!
When you want to know where the Teamsters are on any issue just think $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
You'll never go wrong.

The company was approved under the pilot program in 2009 before President Barack Obama’s administration cancelled it. Mexico retaliated by placing tariffs on 99 agricultural products worth more than $2 billion annually.

Mexico cut the tariffs in half this summer after Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon approved an inspection and monitoring program for the companies that had been approved in 2009. The Mexican government has vowed to lift the rest once the truck heads out of the border zone Friday.

............

“We certainly hope that it cannot be stopped,” said James Clark, director of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Mexico Business Center. “The U.S. has been in violation of the NAFTA agreement ever since the beginning of the trucking issue. Mexican trucks have every right to come into the U.S. under NAFTA as long as the trucks are fully inspected to U.S. standards and the drivers speak English.”

This site if from the washington post... you will have to search for the link. It only allows one view.

The dispute between the two nations, which have a $393 billion trading relationship, dates to the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1995. U.S. officials have promised on multiple occasions to resolve the standoff.

The U.S. initiated a pilot program in 2007 that let as many as 100 Mexican trucking companies haul cargo into the U.S. It was canceled in 2009 under a provision in a spending bill passed by Congress. Mexico responded by placing retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports.

Under the agreement today, half the tariffs will be lifted as soon as the deal is signed, and the remainder once the first Mexican truck is allowed to enter the U.S.

erieangel -> RE: Occupy the 2012 election (10/24/2011 6:18:10 AM)

Occupiers are already thinking about what to do when the cold weather really hits.  At my local Occupy Erie, we are getting tips from some of the homeless--we inadvertently commandeered their space.  OTOH, many of the homeless who did not go elsewhere, are saying the gazebo is more cozy with us there--we have tarps hung on all sides except where the steps are located to keep out some of the wind; tarps are covering the cement floor where we bed down at night.  There are chairs, a constant supply of coffee, meals offered to anybody who is present at posted meal times, snacks (though we do ask those not actually involved in our movement not to load their pockets),  blankets, sleeping bags and cushions--I love the dog bed somebody brought but last night somebody snagged it before I even thought about bedding down.  We even have extra tarps that people can cover themselves with to hold in the heat.  And we have more electric heaters than we have needed thus  far.  When the lake effect snows start (none of us are counting on Lake Erie freezing), we plan on running two-three people sharing 2-4 hour shifts and constantly rotating to maintain the occupation until at least January 31.

Sounds like you've got it worked out for the winter. Good luck.

cuckoldmepls -> RE: Occupy the 2012 election (10/24/2011 9:43:38 AM)

If I had a dollar for everytime someone blamed capitalism instead of our stupid government, I would be a rich, short, fat movie producer wearing a ballcap.

Stupid kids are blaming everyone except who they should be blaming which is democrats. Obama just signed 3 new free trade agreements that Bush started even though he said he would either cancel NAFTA or at least renegotiate it, then he just let Mexican trucks start rolling across the country even though 5000 trucking companies have gone out of business since the recession started.

Are you people absolute morons? Obama is just laughing his ass off that you are attempting to help him get reelected.

mnottertail -> RE: Occupy the 2012 election (10/24/2011 9:58:46 AM)

The 3 trade agreements that Obama signed were the ratifications ramrodded thru congress by republicans, originally negotiated by republicans, for republicans.

You really need to get a clue what is going on before you pontificate so pathetically.

Moonhead -> RE: Occupy the 2012 election (10/24/2011 10:07:30 AM)

If he did, he wouldn't be pathetificating like he does, would he?

Pixar is short of Jobs, right?

Moonhead -> RE: Occupy the 2012 election (10/24/2011 10:37:53 AM)

Yep. They need a new attention seeking narcissist who knows nothing about cgi animation or constructing a narrative in three acts now...

mnottertail -> RE: Occupy the 2012 election (10/24/2011 10:40:11 AM)

And you think Stern isn't qualified for the post?

LOL. It HAD to be done. It's a goddamn genetic imperative with me.

JEEZ, I KILL MYSELF!!!!
