Yes, I hope someone here has experience of peels too. I'd really like to hear first-hand about it.

I have to admit quite freely that I really couldn't/wouldn't use a device such as the Bugg. I don't even count calories. I'd go nutty. I can see the benefits for the interested, though, and also if you find you lose track of what you eat it'd be a big help.

I just can't bear thinking about food or exercise beyond actually doing it or eating it. I prefer being told what to do and then just having to do it. I don't mind doing the work at all and respond well to being pushed, bellowed at and otherwise *encouraged*.

However, having said all that, M bought me a device a week ago for my birthday, that monitors how many miles I've cycled/speed etc etc and I was very excited that I'd be able to tell how many miles I'd done....... so must be horses for courses :)

Oh yes, a pedicure seems very decadent. I've always painstakingly done my own, but I detest doing it!

I also have acrylic on my nails on one hand to protect them from the effects of playing the banjo.( I don't use picks)........I have none on the other hand and have to have very short nails....looks a bit odd really, to a non-muso. :)

I go for pedicures about once a month and about every other week I go for a brow waxing. It's my small ways of indulging in myself.

The only problem is I just moved here to Baltimore and I have yet to find a place that I absolutely want to go to all the time and I don't know any females around here who go to the salons or spas so can't get their reviews of places. Blah.

The hunt continues for a wonderful place. UGH.

I plan on adding massages to my list of indulgences soon lol.




I understand. When I find a hairdresser, and she moves on, I stop getting my haircut for an age and cut it myself (actually, that could just be because I'm a bit of a strange twit).

Massages,oh YES, they should be right up there with veg, fruit and all things good for you.........lol

Waxing just is dire. I had my top lip done a few times and I had vile and slightly worrying desires to exterminate the waxer....and I only have a sprinkling of hair there!  How people can stand getting their pubes waxed I really do not know!

Oh yes, leg or hip problems permeate everything as it's hard to not use them. Thank god that I found that cycling doesn't affect mine at all, so I feel really free and happy when I'm pelting miles on my trusty bike.

But all the same, you still have to walk so all any any advice is always SO welcome. One tip I got a few months ago was to sting the area with nettles. M was strangely keen to *help* out with that! He even found and picked the nettles!......... After he did one hip I was writhing, yelling and crying and he had to order me to stay there for the other hip. It was so bloody awful that even if it had relieved the pain in my hips, I think I'd rather have suffered.

One plus point though........my bum swelled up nicely and was plump for about 3 hours, 'though the rash made it look as if I had bags of tapioca wedged under the skin......lol

Unfortunately cycling is a nono for me, it leaves me in agony. Pity really because there is a gorgeous park here where my dad and I used to bike. It's so forestlike that it's possible to forget the city exists. I'm thinking about trying weights to build up the muscles in my hip and leg and see if the added muscle strength helps.

Oh bloody hell I think I just discovered a new hard limit! Nettles, good God woman are you insane lol? I can't say I'm surprised that M was eager to help. Based on what you've told us here it sounds like that would be right up your street.

I knew his eagerness wasn't totally altruistic but I don't have anyone else that'd be willing to *hurt* me, so to speak, even in a good cause.

I have to be fair though, he really did hope it'd help my hips ..............LOL

It's a pity that hip problems are such a mystery, even now. I got all excited when I had a hip xray thinking it MUST show some major something or other, as the pain was so terrible.........and it was completely normal! I was disappointed in one way and hugely pleased in another.

There often doesn't seems to be any real definitive diagnosis and you end up with tons of *trial and error* which stretches over time and before you know it years have passed and you're not a lot further forward. It really pisses me right off.

I only recently found the cycling thing, so I do hope you find that thing that helps before long. I really do understand the frustration.

What about swimming?

I've seen several doctors and the diagnosis changed with each one, none agree. All I know is that I have a truckload of pain and what is okay one day isn't the next. I'd love to try swimming but we only have outdoor ones which are full in the summer and well in the winter....

I do think I'll see if strength training might help. In any case what with using a cane I've lost a lot of muscle in both legs so it's time to try something.

I lost my 15 year hairdresser to Paula Deen. I don't begrudge him the fame, but dog gone it no one has ever been as good with my hair as he was. Every time I go for a trim I end up with a cut and some go way too far. Makes me want to murder someone.

I tried facial waxing. It looked like my face was burned all three times I tried. I just don't react well to the wax, but my skin is sensitive to many things. Damned complete hysterectomy in my early 30's was not conducive to normal hormone levels. Shudders at the thought of waxing my nether regions.

This is a great thread. Amazing what you can learn.

Meh, I'm not a pain slut by any means, but a full Brazilian really wasn't that bad. Only one part, near the clit, hurt like hell, and only the first two times it was done. By the time I got waxed for the third time it was like ripping off a bandaid.

I'm really hoping that someone who knows what they are talking about will have advice about strength training. I don't want to go out and buy weights only to find I bought the wrong ones.

I am a fan of the epilady, so much neatger than waxing! I would loe to have a down ther was helper, it's hard to get the righ angle, pull the skin, and aull the wax. Bonus is that it kills the hair follicles over time..

Are you able to do squats or lunges? Squats are by far the best leg exercise there is. Which is why everybody hates doing them but loves the results. If you can do squats try it with your own body weight. Look at some videos of people doing them and see if your hip will allow you to do them.

If you go the gym route you can try squats with weight. If you can't do those I would recommend hack squats which work a little differently. If you can't do those I think the leg press machine, leg extension and leg curl machine will take care of your legs.
