This is typical "Congress is corrupt" boilerplate. You hear this stuff from everyone, no matter their political affiliation. I think even Charlie Rangel says this stuff on occasion.

Sure it is. Completely and totally original.

Hint: There is nothing new about OWS' ideas unless they found a new way to make a bong from rat carcasses.

So yeah, I think transparency and a real law with real teeth that reaches out further than the Brown bill does would be a nice idea. And Yeah, I think the new speech writer your talking head has hired is MUCH more articulate.

Been googling around and there is nothing anywhere about her hiring a writer so I'm thinking it was a freelancer paid under a nondisclose.

I strongly suspect that there are many who would disagree with your assertion that this position originated with the OWS .

MusicalBoredom -> RE: Can You Guess Without Googling? (11/18/2011 2:59:39 PM)

1. No looking

2. I really couldn't tell where they were on the political spectrum for the basic reason that I think most of us fundamentally want the same things on most major points.  Somehow we have been become so wrapped up in "my side is right and your side is wrong" that we don't even listen to what is actually listen to what's being said.  That being said, I don't trust most politicians to actually tell the truth in terms of what they really think or offer a plan to achieve that.  If Donald Trump said this, for example, I would question his angle and wonder when he planned on introducing his new "No More Corruption" consulting group that would be paid to monitor congress. (No I don't think The Donald was the author.)

3. Of course I agree with most points but not anymore that I agree with "lower the deficit."  It all comes down the specific hows for me to get on board with it.

Bring about $3.50 to starbucks with that suspicion. Cause ya won't get your coffee otherwise.
Listen, I am not saying we invented the idea that politicians should not be exempt from SEC laws on insider trading. What I am saying is that OUR bringing it into the light once again is what's put it on the table again. It's an idea that's been around a bunch of times. The real difference is like the bank fee thing 'that wasn't our idea', is merely this, it'll now get done, you'll be able to call it whatever, and all us 'kooks' in OWS will be happy. And we don't care who needs credit for it.
But I kinda think the Brown bill is dead out of the shoot. It's vague.

Ya know, most of us have read the tea party platform and it's truisms at some point or another. What I'd like to know is what have they done to make point 9 come true?

So your entire reason for posting was to insult me for not believing she wrote this? Care to bet what a textual analysis comparing this piece to her earlier written works would show?

BTW I'm respecting Firm's wishes unless you think right wing female filth is too identifying.

You might look toward their successful 2010 candidates for that. A very solid start in that direction. And that is the ONLY way OWS will ever have any meaning. If you can't influence one of the existing parties then you are pissing into the wind..or in this case shitting in the park.

WTF? I bunch of career fringe righties that got elected largely on the back of unregulated post Citizen's United money and have been in the pockets of the big corporate interests ever since are getting the money out of politics? How? by staying bought?

Politesub53 -> RE: Can You Guess Without Googling? (11/18/2011 4:38:36 PM)

I have no clue who said it. Although the same can be said of many politicians this side of the pond

My guess would be right of centre but not by much.

I agree with the opinions in the OP, especially those about lobbyists. We have had to put strict controls in place in the UK, due to ex MP`s and Ministers abusing the use of contacts made while they ( ex mps) were in office. One high profile case was Geoff (Buff) Hoon, an exx Labour Minister of Defence caught offering his services for cash and claiming he could open any door. His consultancy firm was placed under strict controls, after he was shown touting for business by a TV investigator.

What .... when they promptly drove the legislature out onto the beltway, thew up the hood and pretended they were waiting for AAA?
Gimme a break. All they have done is redefined doing nothing as 'accomplishments' .
They did manage to cripple the legislature enough to get us a downgrade in our Credit Rating... which REALLY is a historic accomplishment!

I dunno Willbe... based on the fact that we have FourEyes having 'declarations' written for her which basically mimic what our movement has been declaring and steadily growing in numbers since day one, coupled with the fact that your hero changed his fucking direction in less than a day and gave his famous "I don't worry about the 1%" speech, of and the fact that every democrat is up on his or her hind legs and looking for a fucking scooby snack ... I sorta think we've already proven that one.
Or was Mitt just 'funnin' us with his ass kissing?

a) Yeah... that's his basic intent

b) It would reveal a METEORIC RISE IN HER COMMEND OF INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH.

HeatherMcLeather -> RE: Can You Guess Without Googling? (11/18/2011 6:14:07 PM)

We can't play. A certain somebody has a mouth as big as her nose and recognized the editorial as soon as I read the first bit aloud. That's one of the problems with living with a political junkie with a good memory for words.

Other than that, I agree with what was said in that piece. The author's political leanings have nothing to do with the issue. Hanners is ultra right wing, and the girls and I are varying degrees of left wing, yet we all agree about the corruption of politicians and the political process.

Bullshit. Youve got two years of Dem refusal to pass a budget to blame for that, even though it was meaningless.
