The pharmacy,  they gave me a box of 200 lancets and the meter then the pen they gave me wouldn't poke hard enough to draw blood even on the higher numbers, because it was this one touch delica, and one touch said a lot of people had trouble with that issue and they sent a replacement, and the replacement didn't work with the old lancets, from the original pen,  so i been using the one from walgreens with the original kit that DID work with the 200 from the phram. Onetouch they were really nice about it too.

Chris, call the manufacturer and ask them to send you a new lancet pen.  They will do so for free.  The monitors are not where they make their money, it is the supplies, i.e. lancets, and mostly the strips.

My insurance was giving my pharmacy a hard time about filling a script for a new monitor (long aggravating story, I love my pharmacists).  My pharmacist had me call AccuCheck (the brand I use) and they sent me a whole new kit that came in 2-3 days.

If your insurance covers the strips (mine are over a hundred a pop), and the lancets, you have no excuse.

Nope, doctor to doctor too sadly.  When I moved out here I had to switch primary care's (obviously) it cost me $100 to have them transfer doctor to doctor.  Just got done paying $50 last month for my orthopedics office to transfer files to my podiatrist  (their office charged a "flat fee" to "save their patients money".)  Every time my KY doctors office balks at the fact that they are making me pay the NJ office calls and reminds me of the law and yadda yadda yadda.  I have noticed that one or two of my other specialists in NJ haven't bothered to charge me, I think it has a lot to do with the guidelines of the practice and if they have decided to institute the law or something about the patient load and sheer number of files and resources it must take every year to do so.

From a technical standpoint I understand and respect it, but its a pain.

Not sure really, but thankfully at this point I think I've paid for all of mine to be transferred!  Maybe when they go electronic there will be some excuse for how it supports the cost of making medical records so accessible?  I know the thought process behind it was to cover the background costs so I am sure they will somehow manage to spin it as necessary.  My orthopedic files are all electronic, I think that is why they set the flat fee.  (They also have their files handled by an outside company, but its a huge practice.) 

Hopefully KY won't follow suit and I won't have to worry about it again.   I found it annoying, but it does make some sense... even if I think $100 is a little extreme.

I would go through your new doctor's office and have them request the records, they will have the Releases you need to sign so they can send the release to your old doc, when they request the records.

Yes, there may be a fee for this or they may not be charged.

While medical records are becoming electronic, they aren't in a lot of places yet with regard to obtaining copies.  It also means that the price of obtaining copies will go up lol because they have to maintain the electronic system.  Believe me, going electronic won't stop them from charging.  

You are entitled to any and all medical records, it doesn't mean they will hand them to you at that time or free of charge and may want to send them to another doctor rather than give them to you -- i.e., giving them to a third party may mean that not all the records make it lol, but a doctor's office has to release same upon request, either to a new doctor or mail you a copy.

Here in TN, when we request records, we pay for the providing of same, but they also certify the records we receive.

angel, a law firm requesting records is different.  I know that my old orthopedic surgeon had a big sign saying that he would be charging to fill out forms for Social Security and when SS found out, they said he was not permitted to charge for paperwork demanded by the state.

Realistically, all the new doctor needs are test results.  The old doctor is a dope.  Really he is.  I go in for a follow up after tests that his office said was needed, I get there and he asks why I'm there.  That's just one asinine thing he has done.

For the test results, I know the new doctor has access to the hospital files (which are all available electronically), and all the tests were done there (for my convenience).  I have copies of some of those results, and the new test results will be sent to the new office.

Wel there you go, you have whatever answer you were seeking lol.  I simply gave you options, you can utilize them or not.  I am not the one seeking my medical records and have never had an issue obtaining them or having them transfered to a new doctor.

Poor circulation, fungal infections and diabetes (which can cause yellowing); also vitamin B-12 deficiency can cause darkened nails.

I have cold, blue toes if I don't keep them very warm: Raynaud's Syndrome.

I don't know that they would give me an issue.  It is more a matter of me avoiding telling the doctor what an ass he is to be honest.

If someone remembers it and can find it for me, i tried but didn't see one outside from one started in 2009 and last posted on in August 2010.

yeah, i guess it has nothing to do with you are sitting there arguing with me regarding information i am giving you when you are the one who has no clue what to do and can't drive blah blah blah.  Seriously?   As i said, i have never had an issue getting MY medical records or getting them transfered, i also deal with medical records in cases which many times our clients will obtain them from their providers which means that they will tell me how they were obtained for me to see if they need to be re-requested.

We had one client obtain her medical records from her provider, and then when we re-requested them they were altered.

So maybe instead of arguing with something you yourself don't know, suck it up and think maybe some of it may come in handy if you find you do have issues.

Fuck me for giving you ideas in handling a problem you don't have yet but may have and were talking about.

Anjelika, my daddy thinks I have poor circulation cause while the rest of me can be warm, or ok, my feet are almost always ice cold. Now to be fair this is winter and we do have concrete floors, but they should warm up again when put in socks or under covers. They do not turn colors though. And it's not like oh just put some socks on, or some slippers on cause I was wearing socks and under the covers,  and at one point Daddy had let me put my cold feet against his very warm body and they thawed a tiny bit, but were still cold and damned do my feet hurt when they're that cold.

It's doubtful they will care. Patients come and go. I've moved a lot and am always requesting records transfer. Start with your new doctor to see if they have a form. Do you have a scanner? If either office uses a form they can email it to you, you can print and sign it, and email it back.

Re: electronic records - the VA in Florida was completely adapted to using electronic records. The nurse at the VA in Massachusetts writes info on paper and then adds it to the system. Multiple people in MA are unable to find test results and prescriptions from the FL system. They have always eventually found them, but only after my repeated insistence that the records exist. I had asked the receptionist to have someone pull my sonograms for my new GYN, as I knew they would be hard to find, and this message was not passed along, wasting a good 25 minutes of our appt. Grr.

I'm going to start a new thread about my uterus, lol.
