Obama has done some good things and some bad. He pushed for health care reform, but he should've pushed harder for the public option. Osama Bin Laden was captured and killed. Obama wants the percentages the rich pay in taxes increased. Bailing out the auto industry was good but he shouldn't have bailed out the banks. I consider him being pro union a positive. I hate the fact that he hasn't gotten us out of these free trade deals and that US taxpayer money is used for foreign aid and policing the world. It never ceases to amaze me how people can think isolationism is a bad thing when isolationism is what made America strong. They must like seeing the once decent paying manufacturing jobs outsourced overseas. Better to destroy the middle class than be isolationists

pops, I did ask you nicely to specifically point out the "bigotry" you claimed to see in Polite's post in my post #107. Thus far, you have failed to respond. The above seems to be the best I can expect by way of answer.

All I can find in the above that even remotely resembles an answer to my question is: "Well you (politesub) sound like a racist and a bigot." Sadly pops that's not good enough. Apart from the complete absence of any evidence of bigotry, just sounding like "a racist and a bigot" isn't anything like good enough. Even if Polite actually sounded like that - which he didn't. Not even remotely good enough.

Am I left with any other option than to apply pops' very own standards here? I fear not. And pop's very own standard is:

I mentioned becoming President as an achievnet, simply because you said he hadnt achieved anything, so it is hardly off topic.

As for your point about taxes, you are being pedantic. A tax on cigarettes is a tax on everybody, not just a tax on those earning more than 250K a year as your post suggests. So in that respect the poorer sections of society that smoke are hardest hit, pro-rata to wages. how that is breaking his word is beyond me, since any government in office needs to raise taxes somehow or the other to run the nation.

Easy solution... quit smoking... though the act isnt as easy as the words... I know because I am quitting.

However, I can spare myself that tax by not smoking. If I work in order to survive, I cannot escape payroll taxes. If I want to eat, which is necessary to survive, I cannot avoid sales tax on food. Those who are on the lower end to income pay a significantly larger amount of their income to taxes than those who are middle or upper end.

I was going to post more, but I think I shall start a separate thread.
