A) I wouldn't want the job, because I'm a fundamentally ethical, good-willed person, and I'd rather be (to parse in {gasp} Rand's terminology) and honest Creator of wealth via the machinery I design instead of exploitive Parasite who aims to seize control and leverage ...

and

B) Even if I had to take the job, I'd weary of overseeing the the propaganda barrage necessary to keep pseudoconservative sub-90%ers like you self-deluded into believing that your slavish devotion to kissing My richer-than-shit coattails was going to keep the rabble from eating you if the whole mess implodes ...

{{shrug}}

At least I understand how the system really works, and can make some intelligently conscious decisions about how I choose to interact with it. It's sort of sadly funny that you'll never even grasp how your strings are getting pulled ...

Which explains all the "redneck republicans" protesting from city to city for entitlements -- oh wait, there aren't any?!!  Shocking!!! [8|]

This is something many people have bandied around.

Something the OWS is against.

I see many complain how liberals want the money from the rich, something for free, ect ect.

So, what is "income inequality" to you and how do we take care of that issue? or do we?

Covered (by moi) in a previous post...but for some reason, I'm no longer able to comment in it.

Must have been my anecdotal evidence and comments about various different people's who have worked for me.

Which brings us right back to this...

MOST people don't want to be top CEOs becuase they don't want to put the blood sweat and tears into what it takes to be a TOP CEO, you know the small number who are getting all these bonus' and compensation packages.

Want a CEO's salary, then don't bitch when you aren't willing (or able) to do their job.  Neat how that works, huh?!! [:D]

Income Inequality is having the economic deck stacked against you through no fault of your own.

Education is said to be the engine of access to opportunity. Studies have shown that your zip code is your education destiny. Your education determines the likelihood of bettering your economic standing.

Poor education hobbles people and they and their children, and their children's children fall farther behind.

The wealthy then feel justified in believing in Social Darwinism. That's inequality to me.

Actually, income inequality isn't anything at all to do with those who may do unto you and never unto themselves.

It's exactly as it states (and there are multiple reasons for it entirely unrelated to skill sets, taxation, ability....):

One has more, the other less....unequal. Simple:  Inequality.

Ergo, sum.

nominal
Definitions (4)
1. Existing or being in name only.
2. For the sake of comparison, form, or name only, and which may bear little or no relation or resemblance to the actual thing.
3. Of or relating to, or constituting, a name, noun, or term.
4. Apparent, estimated, temporary, token.

Now, tell me who drives the market? Sure isnt me, sure isnt you. Bet its that 1%, coupled with the Business entities in this country and overseas, driving the Congressional members who drive back with an almost extortionist zeal against the Business and the 1%.

Its Parasitism - three way. [;)]

Really? Cos the ones I know apparently know how to work the system like mad. They have every fucking benefit available. it's been my experience that most liberals in Maine are the elite ones, that own shops and restaurants and businesses and employ the "bubba' contingency that just whines on their way to to WalMart on the first of the month before they hit the grocery store with their EBT cards or whatever the fuck you guys call them.

My liberal friends are college educated and successful and employ people, like I said, usually lazy ass right wingers with their ignorant bumper stickers and their uneducated viewpoints that prevent them from being succesful. Perhaps you live in a different area. Where, exactly, are you from? In New England, which is mainly liberal, we libs tend to be the ones that make things happen.

For me income inequality means the situation where a person cannot find a job that pays a living wage while the CEO's continually get bigger and bigger compensation packages, usually for running their companies into the ground.

That's not (inherently) income inequality.

It may be unfair (even as the exec probably has higher skills and therefore is worth, via the market, more money), it certainly creates an unequal income by comparison....but it's not at all income inequality, since by definition, the assumption is that both (or all) players have some level of equality but for their income.

Income inequity to me means a situation or system where a reasonable opportunity to make a good, decent, or minimal income does not exist when a privileged few control that opportunity.  But they don't.  As you know (and all rational thinking people know....you do.

That situation does not exist in America so there is no issue to address.  WELL SAID!!!!!

I do agree that the world economy, and predatory business practices, are making it harder than 30 years ago to take advantage of opportunities. We should be looking for ways to make climbing the ladder to economic security easier. But opportunity still exists therefore there is no wide spread income equality in America…in my opinion.

YAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!!

No it is my opinion that there is opportunity for all if they take advantage of it.

Are their companies run into the ground?... a better example

E. Oran Brigham, CEO of Avantek, Inc.  This was back in the '80s, but he ran the company right down to the grass, when HP bought the company.  He stayed employed all the way to the buyout, as did the senior execs who were also clueless.

You want PROOF of something that DOESN'T EXIST?!!  And you say you're college educated?!! [sm=rofl.gif]LOL!!!

Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.  --- Helen Keller

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us -- Helen Keller

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved - again, Helen Keller

That's all.  Carry on.

No doubt it happens...but not as often and DomKen seems to think...I believe anyway. CEO's are most often beholding to board members and their employees and must ultimately please them or they are replaced.

And then there are CEO's who have a bold vision, not shared, (even remotely by the board) some even with barely 4% of the shares, hardly a controlling share, fire their entire board and proceed with a fury.

Sometimes they lose everything....sometimes they're Steve Jobs.

Too often people look at those who failed at their quest and use that as the example of why these guys are "overpaid".

Bold decisions without bold actions never produce bold results....and that's one of the reasons why (some of) these guys are paid inordinately well, that to the masses seems inappropriate.

Generally incorrectly so.
