Hi TFB Generally, phlegm---anything coming up from your lungs or out of your nose, should be clear. If sick it may be a bit cloudy. If it is yellow or greenish, you have an infection and should visit your local health center or physician. Bloody phlegm can be a problem. IF the blood is in the phlegm from your nose, there is a good chance it is from blowing too hard, sneezing too hard, irritation etc. However--coughing up bloody sputum should never be ignored. If your cough lasts for 2 weeks or more, you have trouble breathing, you rapidly loose weight, night sweats, high fever--get to a doctor immediately. Personally, I'd call for a second opinion. In general, sore throats do not cause bleeding. Hope you're feeling better soon.
