First, I stand firmly behind the Second Amendment. Second, I will say that if you are threatened, or feel threatened, and you take up a defensive posture or a posture of warning, such as to let the other person know either implicitly or directly that if they come closer they will be subject to attack - and they continue to engage in behavior that you interpret as threatening, then they deserve what they get.

Third, if a person ever enters my home uninvited for any reason, they will either be incapacitated or dead in very short order. And it won't make a sound. The main problem with a gunshot is that it alerts all your neighbors who immediately call the police, and in no time you are explaining what happened and justifying your actions. Anyone entering my home will find that the lights don't work, and that furniture is placed in such a manner as to preclude easy movement through the rooms and also to produce noise as they bump into them. The lights won't work because the electrical panel was placed deliberately in my bedroom, where I can kill the master power switch at a moment's notice.

They would not die by gunshot. They would die by either crossbow bolt or by the blade or spear. My neighbors would sleep on, and in short order the body would be buried in the backyard under the begonias. And then I would repair the door or window, and go back to bed.

Only the sheep think that. And criminals count on people with that mentality. Unarmed citizens are criminals' bread and butter.

Tell it to the million in prison... many of those thought the same way but eventually with or without conceal and carry they end up there.

Then for every one criminal killed by a conceal and carry gun owner tell the parents of the many maimed and killed children in hand gun accidents.

I am all for gun ownership but easily conceal weapons are just as bad as machine guns in my way of thinking… But of course just an opinion.

I'm sure that does wonders for bringing back dead victims. Oh wait... No it doesn't.

Which is why gun owners need to exercise responisibility.

They aren't even remotely the same.

How does this make sense when more people are killed by hand gun accidents then criminals... So with basic math if no hand guns then less deaths... get it.

And... how much responsibility do the children have?

Hand guns can be physically handled by small children...rifles and shot guns are at least harder to use... does that make sense to you? That is why hand guns are more dangerous and should be made illegal just as machine guns.

Again, with children and guns, it falls to the parents to be and to teach being responsible. Less guns won't do that. Can't be taught if there's nothing to teach.

Been shown over and over on these boards in many threads...look it up if you don't believe me.

OK so it is the parents fault...in your way of thinking...Does that bring the children back to life?

But look we will never agree and we are hyjacking the thread so lets just say we disagree and move on.

Just as I thought -- no stats. See, the over-crowding in prisons and death rows would seem to argue with you. But if you have any stats, I'd love to see them. But be sure to include all crimes. Just because a criminal robs you doesn't mean he kills you. But if you can't fight back, you're still just another payday for them.

Of course it's the parents' fault. I grew up with guns in the house all my life. Never got shot or shot anyone accidentally. Responsible gun ownership solves a lot of problems before they start. Show me an accidental gun death and I'll show you an irresponsible gun owner.

This law prevents a DA from trying to score a murder rap on a man trying to defend his. It is not there to allow murders to go unpunished. If there are unpunished murders it is because of poor police work and not this law. The law will stand because of this and any attempt to hang unpunished murders on a great law is a questionable endeavor.

Drugs?? The kid was 17!! What 17 yr. old doesn't do pot?? Well, I didn't but I was a nerd.

I'm as liberal as it gets on the subject of drugs, especially pot, but not when we're talking about teenagers.

Lets be realistic. You will always have nut cases and accidental shootings. Lets compare the number of people shot in "stand your ground" states. then look at the statistics for people killed by Doctor's mistakes in hospitals. Doctors's mistakes killed FAR more people. So are you saying we should close hospitals?

If your argument is, "we should outlaw guns," tell me, how have the "outlaw drugs" laws worked?

One, lets do just that.  Where are the credible statistics? Provide them. Otherwise it is a religious argument.

Two, no its a non-sequitur, drugs are drugs, guns are guns, and apples are not oranges.

And before any of the vituperation starts, the steamrolling liberal commie pinko fag doesnt pay child support stuff starts about me, you had better stop and read my posts in recent and ancient history, this is not a comment on stand your ground or drugs that you will glean my viewpoints from.

Just sayin'
