ORIGINAL: MistressDarkArt LW, have you had your thyroid checked recently? Yes, when I first started going to the doctor I have, she checked my thyroid last year and it came back normal. She also checked for HIV and all that and she said it's unlikely I'm going through menopause. So I have no other ideas left. I have another appointment with her next month...I can't get in until then, so I'll talk to her again. I was experiencing the same thing, though it has thankfully seemed to subside for the moment. Not having a washer and dryer has caused me to have an overabundance of sheets, since they were constantly getting soaked. Not fun. Anyway, your thyroid was fine last year, but you weren't having this problem then, right? Ask her to check it again. It may be "unlikely" that you are going through menopause, but it isn't impossible. Tell your doctor what is going on and how much it is bothering you. I know how bad it sucks, I have been experiencing it off and on for the last few years. At one point, my dermatologist prescribed something called "Hypercare" which is a prescription anti-perspirant. It doesn't keep you from feeling like you are burning up, but it does help with the perspiration from it. I have used it in places other than simply my armpits, though it can cause a little irritation sometimes. You have my sympathies on this. Until you get to the doctor, all I can suggest is to drink LOTS of water (icy cold of course). Also, I found that popsicles have been a little helpful and comforting when the hot flash strikes.
