El;ectriocity was one of the most significant changes in recorded history. The internet isn't as yet, whatever wankers like Douglas Rushkoff claim. All it does is make the late capitalist model that was already in place a little easier for those who can pay their bills and a lot harder for those who can't. That isn't a significant change, I'm afraid, just a refinement of the way we'd been heading for a bloody long time already.

The argument, LC, was that because of the internet, people would not accept racism if the CRA (civil rights act) was overturned.

In that, I agree with Moon. The on line atmosphere would, in fact, make it easier to do trade with a racist company. After all, its not like you are walking in the doors of that company, ready to spend money in view of everyone who knows you.

DS seems to be of the belief that racism would not spike again if it were legal to be so.

Thanks, but that's not exactly what I said. I do believe in areas it would increase, but it would never get back to the levels of pre-CRA everywhere.

And, go right on ahead and agree with moon. I'm just wondering what he's going to do with his communication via smoke signals gets carbon taxed.

What do you believe the Pre-CRA levels were? Are you speaking of 1964? 1963? 1959? There were people back then who would have killed simply because of skin color. Guess what? They still exist today.

Are you speaking about the "back of the bus" incident? Get a bus company that is racist and has a low ridership of any race and you will see that returned without CRA.

Wasnt it Denny's who were sued not too long ago for racism? Cracker Barrel as well...

These, and many more, are all within the atmosphere of the CRA.... imagine no CRA... and you honestly believe it wouldnt be more blatant?
