OK, maybe it's the chauvinist in me and I missed something a more sensitive man would have been exposed to. I've noticed all the avatars that say "sluts vote".

Um . . . what do sluts vote on?
Is something special that explains wearing that avatar?
What did I miss?

I missed it too, lol.

I think it might be reference to some Republican stating that all women who feel they are entitled to use contraception & have it covered by insurance are nothing but sluts.

However, many females, who may very well be sluts by their definition vote.

Buh bye votes from females. Stoopid Republicans.

TheHeretic -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/2/2012 1:28:59 AM)

Rush Limbaugh fans, IIRC. [:D]

tazzygirl -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/2/2012 2:54:56 AM)

grins

Sluts do vote.

With as many male sluts as are represented on these boards, I would have hoped you fellas would have kept up with the issues concerning all of you. [;)]

Anaxagoras -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/2/2012 3:44:29 AM)

I thought it was about some Canadian police chief a few years back referring to a "slut", and feminists the world over took issue with it. There were "slut walks" or some such all over the place for a while...

SoulAlloy -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/2/2012 3:58:32 AM)

I thought it was just a way of promoting political activism given the poor voter turnout...

LizDeluxe -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/2/2012 6:32:06 AM)

Sluts vote but evidently they are not bright enough to realize that Limbaugh is not an elected official.

I thought this, too.

Since I don't refer to myself as a slut, I don't have a Sluts Vote avatar.

Musicmystery -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/2/2012 6:57:15 AM)

Rush Limbaugh on the air referred to a college student testifying before Congress about how important birth control pills were to her health, calling her a slut, and said if we were going to pay for birth control, she should be required to post videos of herself having sex on the Internet so we get something for the dollar.

Not surprisingly, this pissed off a lot of women. While Rush is not an elected figure, he takes a strictly conservative partisan Republican line, and his talking points appear in the mouths of Republican conservative officials. He's a proxy. Despite his long obnoxious verbal spewings, and that his ratings have been steadily dropping in the past few years, many women felt this was finally way over the line.

Hence, "sluts vote." He became the poster child for the "Republican War on Women."

Killerangel -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/2/2012 7:01:28 AM)

Thanks Musicmystery for the explanation.

They voted against him by contacting his advertisers directly.

And yet many are still brighter than some posters.

I didn't think that old cigar chomping hypocrite had anything to do with it except to those people who were weak-minded enough to do as he instructs.[:D]

littlewonder -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/2/2012 7:40:09 AM)

beats me. I don't understand them either. I figure hey if they want everyone calling them a slut, so be it. I just ignore it.

We're smart enough to realize that the "slut" in question was testifying in front of elected officials about something that we shouldn't have to testify about.

Wow, thanks musicmystery! I did not know this.

From the other responses in this thread, many others did not know this, either. I'm thinking maybe those using the avatars might want to put a link in their sig line or something, so their message actually...well...tells the message.

That's why among men, voters are split 46%/46% Obama/Romney, but among women,
depending on which poll this week, it's 54%/51% Obama to Romney's 40%.

Seems women care about this issue. Duh! [:D]

LadyHibiscus -> RE: -=Sluts vote?=- (6/2/2012 9:04:08 AM)

The woman in question who testified was taking the birth control for what some still call "female troubles". I took them for years and they kept me away from surgery. Paid for them myself, too. Sorry, Rush! [;)]
