Nah, the Daily Beast is a legitimate source of news... You didn't use it because the author is trying to paint Issa in a bad light, and accuse him of making a "smoke filled backroom deal".

You don't like the fact that the AG lied to congress twice, got called on his bullshit, and is making the President look bad, so you post an article slamming Issa... Nah you're as innocent as a lamb.[8|]

By the way, you haven't refuted one fucking link I posted in this thread... If they were all "rabid nazi teabagging ignorant misinformed" articles, surely you could find one legitimate source to dispute them.

Is your Googlefu that weak Chum?

Or, the Demoncrap Senate could at least PROPOSE a Federal Budget instead of ignoring their fiduciary duty for the past three years.

Have you ever even read the Constitution?

Ken, they are talking about the Federal Budget. Not taxes. That article and section ONLY refers to taxes.

The federal budget is authorization for the raising of revenue as well as the spending of revenue and as such much originate in the House.

No "legitimate source of news" does this.

That's automatically opinion.

The Federal Budget is based upon the sitting President's agenda and policies, and as such it originates in the White House and is known as the "FYXXXX Federal Budget Request" (the President's PROPOSED budget).

Lucylastic -> RE: AG Holder Hides Behind Obama's Skirt (6/24/2012 8:18:40 AM)

From Fox's own Fox news sunday???

WASHINGTON -- House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) contradicted House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Sunday, saying that Congress has found no evidence that President Barack Obama or anyone at the White House had participated in a cover-up involving the Fast and Furious scandal.

On Thursday, Boehner said that the Obama administration's decision to invoke executive privilege to prevent the release of some documents about the program Issa had requested was "an admission that White House officials were involved in the decision that misled the Congress and covered up the truth."

During an appearance on "Fox News Sunday," host Chris Wallace asked Issa whether he had "any evidence" that the White House had been involved with the matter.

"No, we don't," Issa said.

The Justice Department's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms apparently allowed some gun sales in Arizona to known Mexican criminals. Two of the guns involved were found at the scene of a firefight in which U.S. Customs Agent Brian Terry was killed.

In February 2011, DOJ sent a letter to Congress denying such sales, but retracted that claim in December. It is not clear if either Attorney General Eric Holder or President Barack Obama were aware of the program, and Issa acknowledged Sunday that he has not found evidence Holder was involved.

"I did not say that Eric Holder always knew," Issa said.

But the investigation has devolved into a bizarre, complex conspiracy theory, which Issa and other congressional Republicans have suggested the Obama administration hatched in order to impose new gun control regulations. By inciting gun violence in Mexico, the theory goes, the administration hoped to spark a controversy that would build public support for gun control.

Im sure someone will want to back this up

seeks2beused -> RE: AG Holder Hides Behind Obama's Skirt (6/24/2012 9:01:06 AM)

Let me see if I have the arguments straight here. We have one side that has determined that Republicans are evil, lying fucks, and this is all the fault of Bush because his administration ran a similar operation. The other side seems to have determined that Democrats are evil, lying fucks and that because the dems didn't automatically turn over a warehouse worth of paperwork they must be hiding something.

Now here is my understanding of what happened. The BATFE office in Arizona ran a operation that allowed known straw buyers to complete purchases of guns and allowed those guns to "walk" across the US-Mexican border with the hope of connecting the guns to people in the drug cartels. This was executed at least poorly, and has resulted in at least one American death and an unknown number of Mexican deaths.

During the course of an investigation(witch hunt or not) Congress was sent a letter stating that no such operation or actions had been undertaken by anyone connected to the DOJ. This letter had to be retracted because it was not true.

The big questions that no one seems to want to answer are who wrote the letter that was sent to Congress, and who authorized and oversaw Fat and Furious.

Unless Holder was involved, or at least briefed in on Fast and Furious, I am astounded that someone in the Obama Administration has not followed standard political procedure and tossed the lowest ranking person possible under the bus to take the blame for all this.

Whether Obama or Holder even knew about this beforehand, by invoking Executive Privilege, it now appears as if there is something to hide, and now Obama has taken ownership of this mess.

And from what I can see, at least some of those document would not be covered because they would relate to the letter sent to Congress. Until at least that is cleared up, as well as who authorized the Fast and Furious program(which involved breaking US laws, and probably international ones as well) there are still questions related to misconduct that will void any attempt at Executive Privilege.

Does anyone else find the fact that the President's claim of Executive Privilege falls so close to the anniversary of Watergate? Can you say "Irony?"

Lucylastic -> RE: AG Holder Hides Behind Obama's Skirt (6/24/2012 9:04:51 AM)

nope I say wrinkly, the opposite of irony

subrob1967 -> RE: AG Holder Hides Behind Obama's Skirt (6/24/2012 9:10:52 AM)

What exactly do you want "backed up"?

Are you asking if Boehner said what he said? I'm sure someone somewhere has it on tape so to speak.
Are you asking if Issa denied what Boeher said about Holder and Obama... It certainly appears that way.
Are you asking if Issa accused Holder of knowing about F&F? The answer is no, even Issa says he never claimed that Holder knew about the mission from the beginning.

I think the whole issue of contempt is based on the fact that Holder is stonewalling the investigation, and Issa won't know when Holder knew about F&F until Holder releases the documents. If Holder was in on the mission from the planning stage, he's broken a few laws by letting the guns walk without interdiction, or even a way of tracking the guns. And the conspiracy theory about finding an excuse for another assault weapons ban isn't so far fetched. If he was briefed while the mission was running, he should have put a stop to the mission instead of letting it run it's course.

If Holder was told after the fact, and wasn't briefed on the mission prior to it's conclusion, he shouldn't have anything to hide.

Why are the Republicans being so partisan? Who do they think that Border Patrol agent was: Pat Tillman?

partisanship is not just a repub problem, its just that most of them dont like to admit it, or wont.

Not quite.

It wasn`t a similar program....it was the same program. There are literally thousand of programs that don`t end and/or begin with each admin.Especially at the beginning of a new admin.

The lies are:

1.That this was an Obama hatched plan that went wrong, therefor he`s hiding something.

It was a legit law enforcement operation that had a tragedy....it happens in law enforcement.Literally hundreds of men and women are killed in the line of duty every year. What the cons are trying to do through innuendo and spin,is abuse this tragedy for their own politics. Not out of concern for the men and women who enforce our laws.

2. That the gun found near the dead agent was the one that killed him. There is no evidence, ballistic or otherwise that the gun found near the agent was the one that killed him.Just an accusation that it was.

There were multiple weapons fired during that incident and no evidence that a F&F weapon killed the agent. My bet is the killer still has the murder weapon.Unless the cons want to suggest the killer tossed the gun on the ground near the dead agent after shooting him to death.[8|]

3. That there was/is a cover up.

Again....no evidence of a cover up or of wrong doing.Just some cons saying so......which means there is no evidence or we`d have seen it by now.

No Owner it wasn't the same plan

Wide Receiver had gps chips implanted in the guns
F&F Released guns without tracking chips

WR Had agents following the shipments
F&F The agents were ordered to stand down and let the guns go

WR Had the cooperation of the Mexican authorities
F&F Nobody informed the Mexican government of the plan, let alone ask for cooperation

WR Mission was interdict and arrest
F&F Let the guns go and see where they end up.

WR Zero reported kills with the 12 guns lost
F&F Over 300 deaths of Mexican citizens, 1 Border Patrol agent, and one ICE agent killed by F&F guns allowed to walk.

Stop spouting fucking lies... There have been numerous links showing the differences between the operations, even fucking Holder admitted they were different operations...

For once in your life, show some integrity.

mnottertail -> RE: AG Holder Hides Behind Obama's Skirt (6/25/2012 6:42:31 AM)

Well with the gps in the guns how did they lose any?  And the bush administration did not report and kills but the mexican government was goddamn sure pissed off about the killings on their side.

So, one need be careful to construct their lies to make sense if they are going to argue them.  Part of the problem of course, is that the media actually publishes the story and it makes it harder for you to make pretend you are telling the truth.
