Lets cut the military to barebones? The military is basically an international POLICE force. Lets try an experiment to see if thats a good idea. We'll cut barebones the police forces in Chicago, New York and all larger cities. If it works out, we can be confident that cutting the International Police will be a good idea!

Every "enlightened" people who beat their swords into plowshares ended up plowing (slaves) for the people that did not. Yeah, I know, the Bible says the meek shall inherit the earth. Maybe in another life.

There is a difference between cutting our defence spending to be more in line with the rest of the world and complete disarmament.

Really? The Democrats controlled Congress in 2003? The House and Senate? I'm sure you got some....EVIDENCE....and....FACTS....to support that arguement of yours, right?

Barebones? What world do you live on?

We spend more on our military than the rest of the world combined.

And it still took nine years to kill an old fart who was dragging a dialysis machine around with him.

Lets look at your original post....

And it's also funny that progressives ignore the little fact that the Dems had control over the check writing for a period of that time, and could have stopped the war before it started by just voting NO... Poor progressives, can't even get their own Caucasus under control.

The Afghanistan War started on October 7, 2001. The Iraq War started on March 20, 2003. Both of these dates took place DURING a Republican controlled Congress AND White House. So, did the Democrats control EITHER the House or the Senate on Oct 7th, 2001 or March 20th, 2003? Even before both those dates, as Congress would have been required to authorized then, President George W. Bush's desire to place US Troops into either theater of war. Did the Democrats control either side of the isle before those two dates, subrob? No, the Republicans did, with the Democrats holding a minority in both. Due to that arrangement of seats, the Democrats could not really have sold America on the idea of not going to war. You might recall back in 2001, that a person called Osama bin Ladan had attacked the USA just a month before and most Americans were still quite upset over everything. Most Americans at that time wanted blood! The Iraq war was solded to the USA over false information that was not obtained until AFTER we had been there for a few months. If the Democrats and the American people knew that before we went into it, would we have gone?

In fact, the Iraq War was written with a blank check. We borrowed every penny to pay for that war, including the costs for the aftermath.

Oh, SR, can you tell me if Congress declared war on either country?

Could you please show everyone, where in the Constitution, we've got the responsibility to PAY FOR AN INTERNATIONAL POLICE FORCE?

I don't see any CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY, so perhaps I've missed it, and could use your assistance in locating it for this issue.

Fixed it for ya.

Yes you did and much more accurate. It's just a shame that all that energy pointing fingers at the other side isn't used to actually fix some of the problems.
