They were elegant, very elegant indeed in the way they told us things in small doses. One small dose at a time, then a tiny bit more. That way we didn't notice what they are doing to us.

We cannot accept that overdoses will close the loop of life, only the loop of death.

After banning cigarettes and soda pop, they will legalize marijuana. They take and they give.

Yes yes.

There is a saying, every little drop wears away a stone and we were like stones that water dropped on slowly until we believed it was true and everything was ok.

In other words, propaganda works, regardless of which side of the isle you are on and it works for good or evil.

Narcissus in Greek mythology was a hunter from the territory of Thespiae in Boeotia who was renowned for his beauty. He was exceptionally proud, in that he disdained those who loved him. Nemesis saw this and attracted Narcissus to a pool where he saw his own reflection in the water and fell in love with it, not realizing it was merely an image. Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection, Narcissus died.

How this thread will end.

And you feel you can manipulate the situation through nefarious means. People have tried to kill threads here before through childish means and they have been rewarded for their childish conduct. Maybe you will get your way. Maybe not. We shall see. You are prideful. I compete with your reflection.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/12/2012 2:22:49 AM)

I found this post by erieangel interesting:

... Her statement about taxing people for not becoming reemployed was out of this world though. Since unemployment benefits are taxed, then people are being taxed for not becoming reemployed. It already occurs.

Post 28 in the GOP Wastes Money; Conservatives stay Ignorant thread.

The mere fact that unemployment benefits are taxed does not make it a penalty, merely a tax since it is a tax on income. ObamaCare can be construed as a tax for not becoming reemployed, however, since the principle reason people do not have health insurance is affordability. I am not an expert on these topics, however.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/12/2012 2:34:45 AM)

erieangel was responding to Musicmystery.

They are. She's bitching about her fantasies about ACA mandates.

I would hardly call these fantasies since the Supreme Court blessed negative reasoning. Actually, I don't know what "she" said. I'm guessing, but I feel fairly confident that I don't need to bother looking it up.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/12/2012 2:42:32 AM)

To be fair to erieangel here is something she wrote that I can agree with:

quote:

quote:

Is there really nothing more pressing for the House of Representatives to tackle?

Not a thing, since the tea party and republicans don't seem to care about unemployment, the economy, tax issues, etc.

The circus has got to stop!!

Post 3 in the same thread.

Yes, the circus has got to stop. We deserve government that works.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/12/2012 3:18:37 AM)

The thread What is the Republicans' plan? dovetails with what I've just wrote. Concerning what Lordandmaster wrote I agree except that I feel that vouchers are a good idea. Otherwise, I feel that Lordandmaster is spot on.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/12/2012 3:29:43 AM)

I feel most strongly that we must guard against being superficial in our views. Our views should not be as shallow as a reflection in a pool and governed purely according to an agenda. What we need is truth, not lies. As I've pointed out earlier, superficial appearances can be deceiving. When your views are superficial you can be easily deceived.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/12/2012 3:52:28 AM)

I am reminded of an interview of a young and very beautiful woman who was a head of the Satanic Church. I am paraphrasing so it is possible I may have gotten some nuance wrong. You are free to be evil, but if you did wrong and it messes you up, you deserved it. I am also reminded of the Wiccan crede.

quote:

Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust.
Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.

For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out.
To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme.

Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much.
Honor the Old Ones in deed and name,
let love and light be our guides again.

Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune.
Widdershins go when the moon doth wane,
and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.

When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two.
When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek.

Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail.
When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.

When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth.
When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest.

Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.
Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.

Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's
insight. Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.

Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland.
Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye.

Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning.
White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.

Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine.
Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.

Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be.
Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.

As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain.
When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows.

When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn.
As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite.

Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all.
When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules.

In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way.
When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight.

Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall.
Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be.

Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know.
When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed.

With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.

Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.

Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you.

These Eight words the Rede fulfill:

"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

in particular. It is something I've lived and anything else is outside my character.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/12/2012 4:25:09 AM)

Amazingly, I agree with farglebargle. I do not always agree with farglebargle. He is the OP in the Republicans Hate Small Business... thread. This relates to ObamaCare because I feel that ObamaCare is good for small business. I am a small business and so I can relate.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/12/2012 4:27:04 AM)

ObamaCare, for example, takes some of the risk out of starting a small business. You need to worry less that you will be deemed unworthy of medical care for having pursued the American dream.

BenevolentM -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/12/2012 5:40:48 AM)

Thinking further. I do not know what Musicmystery politics is since I don't keep track of that sort of thing, but my impression is he believes only wealthy land owners should vote.

mnottertail -> RE: Affordable Care Act and Its Implementation (7/12/2012 6:33:07 AM)

It would close the loop on the founding fathers.

Not at all. This thread will live as long as you do. I'm having some fun with the situation and a good chuckle.
