Region: Minneapolis /St. Paul, Area Issue: For over 40 year I have been on crutches. I am probably the last person in this region to use what are known as Canadian Crutches. For that time my crutches have been (I believe) made of maple. This last time I picked up a new pair of crutches and they felt ... different and I THINK the industry moved from Maple to Pine. The feel of these crutches make me a bit uneasy knowing that the durability of pine is lower than Maple. Work being considered: • Opition A: Having a Maple pair commissioned. This would require specialize skills of lamination and wood forming. • Opition B: Having this pair reinforced metal bands (exteriors). This would require very careful pattern matching and knowledge of metal strengths. In both cases hardware would have to be sought: • screws, bolts, and washers • Leather work (for wrist bands) • Riveting to attach leather bands MstrPBK St. Paul, MN USA
