How many people would "Nazi" Fred Cowan have had the balls to even talk back to without a gun?

It happens a lot more often than those in the media would have you believe. If there is no blood, it isn't newsworthy.
I have personally been in the same situation.
Criminals present, gun pointed, criminals eyes get big and they leave. Noone hurt and it doesnt make the news.

Oh yes, if there was no blood then I'd expect it more. However the criminal had actualy had a good go at killing or at least cutting a couple of people...there was plenty of blood shed and two victims. Of course if there was no imment danger to the gun owner or anyone else its less remarkable. However if I saw someone attempting to knife unarmed people and I was armed.....well there might not be much of a pause between my warning and the first few rounds. However all speculation without knowing the exact facts.

if the guy with the knife was in mid stab when I saw him, and I was armed, I probably wouldn't even warn him to stop, I'd be more about stopping him with lead. On the other hand, if he stabbed two people, and then was standing away from people, I'd warn him to stop, and only shoot if he decided it was a better idea to go after another person.
Glad that someone was able to stop it without further bloodshed.

Of course, we regulate cars and car operation. How about guns?

"OH NO!!!! Regulation!!! How long before they take all the cars??????"

you think you have the constitutionally secured right to own and bear a car now do ya?

I know this is really difficult for some people so take your time.
