I know this is an old wive's tale but it is true as it can be
do not for any reason raise your arm above your head!

My twin and I have a gift, sometimes it can be scary as hell
but it works and it is true she had a feeling not to rasie her
arms above her head!

Our mother who was from the south, made her do this when
she was with us back east!

The stress of her moving 3 thousands miles from us made her
forget this important fact, and she had problems with and thank god
she made the doctor listen to her, and she had a problem!

It turned out amazing and just do not lift you arms up as to put things in cabinets!

Oh I do love cihildren and babies!

Status: offline 		mons, I'm sorry but there's no truth in that at all and I don't think it's helpful to be spreading old wives tales.

The theory behind not lifting your arms over your head is that it supposedly can strangle the fetus with the umbilical cord - which is silly because the umbilical cord is not attached to the arms. If this were true there would be warnings everywhere, doctors would make a huge deal about it. That is, if we hadn't died out years ago.

Pregnancy is full of worries enough without making things up.

I'm sorry your sister had complications but it had nothing to do with the position of her arms. It may have had something to do with the stress or the physical exertion of the move, but I assure you it wasn't reaching up to high shelves.

Status: offline 		I am 22 weeks pregnant. As far as sex goes just in the past few weeks we have needed to be careful about positions. It was disappointing that so far I still have not hit the 2nd trimester labido boost.

My only concern has been toys. We keep them clean and all but still I worry about introducing some sort of bacteria.

First, the advice by most has been great.

Breast stimulation is a no no.... it causes contractions. We do that test in Labor and Delivery (done by the woman herself, not by the staff) for a contraction stress test. Definitely off limits.

So clamps and things would not be something I would advise her to try at this point.

Emotions... some of us are into mind fucks.... this isnt the time. Hormones are already out of whack. Dont compound that by trying the same games as before. Neither of you know now how you will react. Keep it safe.

Spankings and whippings, light, can be enjoyable. Just listen to your body.

Inserting anything that cannot be completely cleaned is a major no no. No sense in risking infection with foods or objects.

Beyond the advice given (with the exception of the arm thing) its difficult to give more details as none of us know the particular health of your friend. She definitely needs to either find a kink friendly Doctor and reserve the harder impact play for after delivery... and not immediately after delivery.

Status: offline 		On my first OB appt. my OB asked if I had cats. We dont have any pets so I am not sure why he asked. It may be for litter but once I said no he went on to what I was not allowed to eat.

Toxoplasmosis is an infection you can get from a microscopic parasite called Toxoplasma gondii. Although the infection generally causes a mild, symptomless illness in people with healthy immune systems, it's risky during pregnancy because the parasite may infect the placenta and your unborn baby.

Picking up cat feces is a no no for pregnant women. Even scooping a litter box is a no no because it may become airborn as the dust rises.

Since you said no, he probably felt you were not at risk. I wish they would remember that 7 - 8 months is a long time and you could still get one.

How hard is it to say, "I like kinky/rough stuff, what do I need to watch out for?" People act like their doctors have never, ever, ever heard this before.

With the second child I had a litaney of things that I had done while pregnant (did not think that I was pregnant) and my thoughts at the time were NOT, oh what will this person think of my choices, but how or will this affect the baby. (Not kinky, but work related stuff ~ being in a room while the x-ray tube was being calibrated and laying on an MRI magnet for hours were a couple of the things.)

Status: offline 		I ended up going to a message board I am on for moms and pregnant women. There are several midwives there. I just could not bring myself to ask my OB what was safe and what wasn't. I could just imagine myself turning bright red while he tried not to laugh at me for turning so red.
