when I get bitten i feel the itch, i scratch until red then squeeze the bite until clear stuff comes out, wash away with water...no more itch no fancy creams needed
although prevention is better than a cure so I stay covered up and wear mozzie keepaway stuff

Keep the info coming. I'm due to go camping next week for four days and those biting b*tches are hideous up here. I don't react well, so I'm glad to hear hints from anyone.

Fairbanks, Alaska of all places. They have a yearly kinky camp out up here. We reserve the entire area and have the space all to ourselves. The facility comes with a dining/cooking building, another large building that gets transformed into our dungeon, and then various cabins that sleep wither two or four people. They've expanded it to four days now and after presenting at NE3, I'll be glad to go to a multiple day kink event and just relax.

LP, khaki or neutral coloured sades of clothes work wonders, like ticks mosquitoes are attracted to bright colours and everything that smells slightly sweet (the whole herbal/flower shampoos, shower lotions, soaps, fragrances, body oils... try anything with eucalyptus they hate the smell, if you can't find it, just a bottle of essential eucalyptus oil mixed with a fragrance free body lotion or moisturizer helps a lot), eating garlic or taking vitamin B1 works really well but you have to do that weeks in advance and the garlic might not just repel the little blood suckers but other people as well...

I have always heard that mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors. The garlic will work if taken daily, but, like you said, it may keep people away also.

Several in my family swear by Skin So Soft by Avon, but who knows. The scent is so strong, I would rather be bitten.

I have tried those clip on things, still got bitten. The best thing I have found is a repellant that is sold at hunting stores, but damn if I can remember the name of it right now. It is a very high percentage of Deet though.

Dark or very colourful, oddly enough, found out the hard way when I was bitten by a tick in the woods, ever since when I walk the dogs in the woods, I wear lighter coloured or khaki clothes and make sure the legs are covered, I might look ridiculous with socks over pants but rather looking ridiculous than dealing with tick bites.

But black does really attract them, the girl dog is black and tan, the boy is tan and rust, despite her sticking more with me and the boy rummaging through brambles and hedges, the girl seems to attract more ticks, though with dogs regular treatment with frontline helps a lot. When I'm in a climate where there are a lot of bloodsucking insects, I usually smell like an oversized eucalyptus sweet and I don't get bitten very often.

LadyP, I've been in Alaska. Your state and the mangroves in FL have a whole different kinda mosquito. Other states TALK about mosquitos but Alaska mosquitos would tie em to a St Andrews Cross, Flog and assfuck them and then eat them for lunch.

There is only one thing I have ever seen that works in places like that and it's 100% DEET.

It goes by several trade names but look on the label and get the good stuff.

Sad but true. Every single other thing I have ever tried, limited success at best. To limit the DEET on my skin I have an old baggy pair of jeans and an old baggy men's button down, long sleeved shirt, and a baseball cap....that I spray with the DEET very liberally. I spray a mist over my shoes and sometimes on my hair that's not covered by the cap. It doesn't smell good but it really does keep the bites to a minimum.

The Benadryl stick I cannot recommend enough. If the mozzies are around, you likely will get bit. I dab the stick on the bite as soon as I discover it and reapply if there is the slightest bit of itch. It keeps me from digging at it and means, no scab, no ugly marks. It's usually completely gone in a day.

That's definitely one way to put it, Hill. These monsters up here don't joke around. During My outdoors time at NE3, they seemed to have a feast out of Me. I literally bruised Myself from scratching so hard in My sleep.

With that said, I appreciate these contributions. It's probably late in the game for the Skin So Soft, so DEET and appropriate clothes (colorwise) will have to do. The clip on things do help, but these things up here are savages.

Agreed, I've been to Alaska in May, which is supposed to be a lower mosquito time.

There were skeeters the size of small airplanes.

The only thing I found that helped was -- don't stay still.

I've heard it said Adolph's Meat Tenderizer on a bite helps. Whether or not one needs to open the bite bump a bit I do not know.

SSS doesnt work in Alaska or the mangroves. Alaskan Skeets would eat MN skeeters for lunch.

You folks have to realize that in alaska, you don't get bitten here and there. We're talking hundreds of bites in just a few minutes. Caribou have been known to die from blood loss.
