Status: offline 		she probably meant RID.................it's an aussie product I think and not only stops the little buggers from biting but soothes the irritation if you DO happen to get bitten. It comes in spray, roll-on and cream and I have a couple of containers of each in the larder. I too have bities !!!

None that I have heard of to date. With the number of mosquitoes that we have up here, that's a scary thought.

They aren't quite as big in size as they were last year due to climate. However, the sheer number of them makes it a concern. What Hill said in his post is very true. Might want to add "gang rape" to their viciousness.

Four days...... Middle of nowhere....... Outdoor play.......

Status: offline 		Thx for the info about Benadryl on a stick! Sounds awesome. I lived in Yukon/NWT for years so I know those skitters well. Yes they are a tough breed. DEET it is. Dryer sheets, Avon, those are for your southern sissy skitters.
Best place on earth, but you have to be tough.

LOL.....I LOVE a sense of humor.

I use to go camping when I was younger. On one trip, up in the mountains, first night by the camp fire, I was bitten 67 times. We counted the welts. The guy I was laying next to didn't get one bite. Only thing that helped, well the only thing we had with us, was lots of alcohol. But, to make sure there are no misunderstandings, I DRANK the alcohol, didn't wipe it on the bites.

Status: offline 		Interesting. I don't know if that works but if you hit hard enough I suppose it might. It is possible to numb the nerve endings that are transmitting the itch.
I am somewhat allergic to mosquito bites. Once bitten if I do not turn off the itch within a reasonable space of time it will swell up to 1-2 inches. Kinda like having a small ping pong ball under the skin. I have my own method of killing or numbing the area affected by the bite, I use extremely hot water. I microwave a bit of water for about 90 seconds and dip a q-tip in, and touch the bite. HURTS like an MF! But, it no longer will itch. Depending on how long it took me to get to the process determines whether or not I will need to do it again in a few hours. It has never taken over 3 procedures to keep it from swelling.

Status: offline 		Just put some cortizone cream on it and let it go away on its own. Make sure you do that before bed. I scarred my leg something awful scratching in my sleep once.

Put a few in a zip lock bag. You will thank me. If it's really bad just take one cube and rub it on the bite.

And you will thank me.

Now, how many of you really knew that applying ice to remove the unpleasant itching sensation from mosquito bites.. is "Negative reinforcement". Yes ladies and gents, doing something that removes an aversive condition exemplifies negative reinforcement at work.

Status: offline 		That happens to me too. Even worse, I sometimes have a really bad reaction to the bites so it swells enough to visibly deform wherever the bite is. So during the summer I'm pretty much on allergy pills 24/7
