That said, it's a free site moderated by volunteers. I'm here as their guest. I try to rein myself in and follow the rules when faced with the idiocy that happens in introductions. (That's the only forum that has generated a gold letter for me)

I don't see us as guests. We're users of the site. I assume that there is some financial gain for the existence of these message boards in the first place. The correlation between the forums and profit might be tenuous - even if it's just a "must have" feature for a successful dating site (or whatever we want to call it) - but it must be there or it wouldn't exist. I don't think I'm here due to the goodness of anyone's heart.

I've said before, I feel it's a partnership. And it's disheartening when I, as a forum user, am expected to abide by rules based on courtesy and respect and those overseeing the forums can pull discussions I may be enjoying and moderate and ban users based on the personal opinion of others without regard to me, the user. There seems to be an imbalance favored toward streaming the pool of users to a certain type or types.

Anyway, I still think introductions should not be a place where we are forced to be nice. Even though I'm usually "nice" - it has turned introductions into boring numbness. I'd be more willing to go up there and welcome people if I didn't have to do it while ball-gagged.

If there aren't pictures, it never happened.

I think Allie would be a good candidate for being a mod, she is always so sweet...no matter what is written. She has the willpower of a SAINT!!

K,

You can't be talking about me.. I got moderated for being a big meanie in the Introductions thread. :(

I should have just thought "Bless your heart" and walked away!

She has no mean streak tho. Mods need a mean streak.

They can look like a fluffy little bunny hip hopping around the front of a cave but they need a mean streak.

I have a mean streak, but I save that for especially deserving individuals.

Allie

Fast reply

Just to remind everyone, all correspondence with Staff is a gold letter. The communication may just be a reminder, and not an actual logged violation. The gold bordering is to make users aware that it is actual and real staff they are communicating with, and not always an indication that you have had a violation of policies and guidelines. Sometimes I wish we could turn it off just to send a user a message. I have sent "Good job" letters to users who thought they were in trouble before they read the mail.

Gold message does not always indicate bad thing. :)

It sounds like I'm kissing butt, but 21 is my favorite so far....

And you're my favorite girl who is a little afraid, so far.

Most of them are very afraid.

Hey! I thought *I* was your favourite! *pouts*

Frick...once again my affections have been toyed with and carelessly tossed aside like the wrapper to a McFood item...thoughtlessly discarded as if they were yesterday's newspaper.....I feel so cheap...so used!...so exploited!!! Am I nothing but a second-rate plaything to be abused and trifled with as though I have no meaning or worth? I am...crushed...

*runs off to sob in a corner*

I am not outing anyone who's been on staff, sorry. That's up to them to do.

I AM SPARTACUS!!!!

No, this is Sparta!!!

A side note, I am very much enjoying the recent participation by the mods in a variety of threads. It is nice to be able to interact with them, and see their sense of humor, without having to tremble in fear at their presense.

The brain in that particular species (Homo gangpunkius) is a very tiny target.

There is nothing very important in that part of the head: mostly volumes of air.

I miss 11, which is not to say I've a problem with the current ones.

Anyone know what happened to hir?

She still graces us with her scathing wit :)

Well if so, in the light of my recent - and entirely unjustified - gagging, I might hazard a guess as to its current nick.

Four mods participated in my moderator training and I never picked up on the slightest suggestion of this from any of them.
