Sorry. That last part isn't true. The H/W thing actually does have different allowances according to age. Check the chart for yourself.

Maybe for a different branch. All the marines request is a hight weight ratio. Age only factors in when you can enlist and if I remember correctly you can't be older than 28 to first enlist.

It might benefit you to look again.

In the meantime, best wishes. Perhaps you could use *exactly* what the military would teach you.

I know it would. That's why I'm going. Plus to get a career going. And I promised my bro from another mother I would. I know I'll do well. Just have to lose the remainder.

Thata pretty cool info. Has nothing to do with getting in. A marine is after boot camp. Before we are called pollees which pretty much stands for slime. Boot camp turns slime into marines then that testing starts we doing run around with ammo cans with us during pollee stage. Though it does prove that is is just a hight wieght requirement nothing to do this age

You obviously did not read the links I sent you because you're as dead wrong as you can possibly be with everything you just said.

I'm not surprised though.

But hey, good luck.

Do you even realize that you are arguing about this with people who are either prior military themselves, or have a military spouse/other family member current or retired?

Call your local recruiter.

I'm not argueing I'm simply talking. And yes probably. However you are older than me and rules change. To top it off I talk to a recruiter monthly. So I do know what I'm talking about. I've even joined in a few pollee trainings as well. So I do know. I have to be 185 to join. But even that doesn't really matter cause I'm probably going to have to wait for my MOS not only that. I have had my cousin and friend go in recentlyish they have a year in now.

Yes, you can. Are you doing that?

Right now, for your height, you are thirty-five pounds over for your age bracket.

Let's face it.......the Marines will take just about any warm body they can cram through. Some of the recruiters I've met will tell a potential just about anything to lure them in, then do their level best to hide shit, tweak the numbers, etc. The person he is talking to may be adjusting the truth a bit, to get him committed. Kinda like promising a specific MOS, then getting him enlisted and surprise!!!........."That's no longer available." or "You don't qualify..."

Generic Dude was a recruiter for a couple of years, when we first got married. The job is not unlike being a used car salesman. He hated it almost as much as he hated the games he had to play to make the numbers every month.

That's what happened to my husband. The recruiter told him all kinds of stuff that wasn't true just to lure him in, and then fudged his record to get him in. When my husband did get in he had a ton of problems because of that. He had to fight to stay in because his record was not as the recruiter had said. My husband did not know any of this until he got slammed by it. They were in the process of kicking him out and he had to take it to court because he wanted to stay in.

Basically, don't believe everything your recruiter tells you. He's just looking for a warm body. Remember he has quotas to meet.
