In other words you are a heretic. If I should be a heretic, it will be by God's design. My loyalty is with Him. The Saints did not challenge the authority of the Church.

But they did an album, with Paul Simon.

In other words, if the Church should screw you over, it is irrelevant. It is for you to have above all faith. It is faith that both God and Church admire.

mnottertail -> RE: Why should we preserve Iran (11/12/2012 10:29:14 AM)

George Michael had faith.

What would this world be like without mnottertail? He can put a smile on your face. Like you said, be wary of the flys for they do not discriminate. They will mess with a horse, its shit, and your evening meal. They do not care if they spread disease.

Defenition of Heretic -
Main Entry:heretic.
Pronunciation:*her-*-*tik, *he-r*-

Function:noun
Date:14th century

1: a dissenter from established religious dogma; especially : a baptized member of the Roman Catholic Church who disavows a revealed truth

2: one who dissents from an accepted belief or doctrine.

I am neither baptised nor from the catholic church.
I am true to my faith.
That might not be your faith but I don't care - I am true to mine.

So, by defenition, I am not a heretic ;)
Go poke that up your pipe and smoke it!

If you don't like other religions (and I believe most religions teach tolerance of others), it is not wise to criticise or ridicule/vilify other religions. By doing so you are more a heretic than I.

Also, by not being tolerant, you are very bad in your own god's eyes. Naughty boy!!

Why? To do the right thing, you typically must do something that is not in your apparent best interest.

mnottertail -> RE: Why should we preserve Iran (11/12/2012 10:58:36 AM)

That's what's wrong with all these kids that smoke cigarettes and dope and beer and all this here shit, I've found that on the whole they usually always ask me, 'Why, Why, Why?'.

BenevolentM -> RE: Why should we preserve Iran (11/12/2012 10:59:08 AM)

I wrote, "I suspect that those who I have loved including those who have betrayed me shall enter the Kingdom of God because I once loved them. My love shall be magnified. It will be a matter of honor. I shall be preserved and so shall all who I have loved preserved."

It was 'invented' by man to worship their god in a single place

Churches have various functions. One of which is to better spiritually communicate with the Divine together with other people.

They are also community centers and hierarchical centers.

And at least in the Near East various temples served as the abode of the various pagan gods and it was the place where the local king reported to the local god if that god was in residence.

to hide the riches they coaxed out of their followers under threat of satan, fire and brimstone if they didn't.

Hide? The riches, among which the churches themselves, the high point of contemporary architecture, usually were there for everyone to see.

Satan, fire and brimstone all had their use in their time. Bringing civilization to animals ain't easy.

Does it not say in most scriptures of various religions, catholic, protestant and other alike, that god is everywhere, all seeing and all encompassing?

The Divine has no eyes. But yes, it is aware of everything that is and happens within our universe.

So there is no real purpose for a church other than to gather the masses when the holy book (whichever holy book you follow) says you really don't need to.

There are plenty of good purposes for a church, as I briefly explained above.

Verily: that is one of the good purposes of a church. And I love preaching to you. But can you hear me?

And don't pray for me either - I don't need your prayers (or your god for that matter); don't waste your time. Save that for those that need it.

Okay.

May you live long and prosper. [8D]

No god, therefore no kingdom of god either. lol.

Your body will rot just like any other - it certainly won't be preserved unless you go into cryogenics.

What a narrow-minded and blinkered view of the world!
It is people like you that start wars and disrupt the natural order of peace and harmony.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Honour is pride.
Haven't you learned anything in your religious lessons?
Isn't pride one of the sins??
Shame on you!

You are sounding more like a heretic than anyone else on here.
If I believed in it, I should damn you to hell, for being so ignorant, unenlightened and anti-christian.

BenevolentM -> RE: Why should we preserve Iran (11/12/2012 11:20:52 AM)

The Church toughens you to the harsh realities of the world.

Moonhead -> RE: Why should we preserve Iran (11/12/2012 11:22:05 AM)

No it doesn't.
It does its best to shield kiddyfiddling priests from the harsh realities of the world.

Keep going on with your rants and you might well join BenevolentM in my collection of nicks whose posts I have on Hide.

And for the record: I ain't tolerant at all and I am all for religious wars.

The measure of a man is that he can change his religion and his innate or conditioned behavior, whereas an animal cannot.

Does an inert building actually do that??
It certainly doesn't in my experience.

They are also community centers and hierarchical centers.

They are not churches.

How many Pagan gods do you think there are??
Or are you confusing the many gods of various religions as 'Pagan'??

In Pagan society, there is no such thing as a 'local' god

That's just the buildings.
Most of their wealth is not actually on show for their followers to see.

Satan, fire and brimstone all had their use in their time. Bringing civilization to animals ain't easy.

Civilisation has nothing to do with religion.

In my world, there is no such being as The Divine.
It was invented to focus the mind and attention of those that needed such an ethereal being.

I see no good purpose for a church other than to shelter from the rain or to indoctrinate it's blind followers.

In almost every list, pride (Latin, superbia), or hubris (Greek), is considered the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins, and the source of the others.
It is identified as a desire to be more important or attractive than others, failing to acknowledge the good work of others, and excessive love of self.

It is listed as number *6* of the seven deadly sins :)

BenevolentM -> RE: Why should we preserve Iran (11/12/2012 11:40:24 AM)

The Pope extends His hand with the might of Caesar and says, "If you are to walk in the ways of Christ, do not be a weakling. This is a charge given to us by God. It is for you to be stronger than Satan."

Why is the United States such a strong hold and military power? It too follows this Christian mandate.

mnottertail -> RE: Why should we preserve Iran (11/12/2012 11:42:16 AM)

I thought these days he was extending his hand like Hitler.  Thats the clown up on the chair these days, innit?
