True, America is not officially a racist country, but there are an awful lot of racists crawling out of the woodwork every time Teh Kenyan gets a bit of press coverage. Mercifully they lost the election tonight, which puts their uber-purist Gottedamerung off for another four years. Sad to say, the only way to get rid of racists is the same way one gets rid of cockroaches: you have to break the breeding cycle.

I'm not a racist. I hated Biden too.

I figure that we're all bigoted for the most part and it just manifests differently and to varying degrees...sometimes in an opposing manner and other times in a over-compensating inclusive way.

You are blaming the victims of US history when you try to draw that kind of false equivalency.

Moonhead -> RE: At Least "America is a Racist Country" is now a dead issue (11/7/2012 7:07:05 AM)

Really?
You won't have any problem citing a psychology report or something penned by a sociologist to support that thesis, then, will you?

Or its 'equivolent', OI?

Hush, Ron: he might start making sense when he's sobered up and/or stopped sulking about last night's election results.

FR

As of 10 am this morning, the popular vote broke down as follows: half-black guy 59.7 million votes; white guy 57.1 million. So 57.1 million people did not vote for the half-black guy. So how are we drawing the conclusion that you are drawing? I'm not saying all 57.1 million didn't vote for Obama because he is half-black. I'm just asking how one draws any conclusion about racism in America against blacks from the outcome of this election?

Racism is alive and well on the planet, including America. No one should become complacent that we are all just one big happy family now and that societal concerns about race need no longer be addressed. That would be a huge mistake for us to make as a society.

Moonhead -> RE: At Least "America is a Racist Country" is now a dead issue (11/7/2012 7:32:10 AM)

The notion that anybody can claim racism isn't an issue in American politics after some of the nonsense we've been listening to about the Kenyan since 2008 is hilarious.
If people are going to seriously try to argue that after the last four year, I wonder how they manage to tie their own shoelaces or shave without slitting their throats...

The spectacle of white people bitching about 'reverse' racism is embarrassing to say the least.

Oh, don't even get me started on that one...

DaddySatyr -> RE: At Least "America is a Racist Country" is now a dead issue (11/7/2012 7:43:26 AM)

Fox news had a couple of PPLs on their election night panel and one made a statement: "The fact that white people are voting for Romney at a 60% rate says that there's still a racial divide, in this country"

The "anchor" asked: "What about black people voting for the president in the 90 percentile?"

Thye PPL's answer was: "Well, I think ideologically, the president resonates with the people of the African American community ..."

So, 60% of white people vote for the person that speaks to them and it's racisn but 90% of all registered black voters vote for a socialist and there's no racism involved. Okay. I'm fully briefed.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Since 1936, between 71% and 94% of black voters have voted for the Democratic party. Lyndon Johnson received a higher percentage of the black vote in 1964 (surpassing even the percentage that Obama did yesterday). And for those unaware, Lyndon Johnson is white. To me the numbers we see reflect the fact that blacks historically vote Democrat, and really nothing more. Otherwise, why is Johnson getting more black vote than Obama?

Carter won in 1976 with 48% of the white vote. Clinton won in 1992 with only 39% of the white vote. Whites do not historically vote for Democrats.

What conclusions can you reasonably draw from these actual facts within their historical context. I draw the conclusion that historically, whites vote predominantly Republican. And when we break down the white vote, what we see historically is that privileged white males almost always vote Republican. Working class whites, and white women tend to split more evenly between the parties. Given the Republican party platform, this should hardly shock anyone. People of privilege who want to protect their own and not share with others vote for the party that promises to deliver exactly that.

Blacks are not voting for Obama because he is black. They are voting for him because he is a Democrat.

Whites are not voting for Romney because he is white. They are voting for him because he is a Republican.

The one conclusion I can draw is that a lot of whites are just not into compassion or sharing or sense of community. I guess they were never taught that value in either their elite private school or their wealthy neighborhood public playgrounds. Oh that's right, they didn't have to share because everyone had a lot of stuff already. Oh, and until 1954, blacks weren't even allowed to go to schools with whites. Got it. I'm fully briefed now, too.

Never mind how much of this supposedly "racial " split is actually class based.

Moving from working in the fields to working in the plantation home doesn't keep one from still being a slave.

This assumes thinking is actually occurring. It's more like pre-programmed automation.

I hope the hangover isn't too rough when the dose of reality hits.
