*sigh* I really miss some of the posters from long ago.................

Sounds like someone over reacted to some teasing. I'm pretty exclusive in nature-so I'm not interested in public play these days. My girls have always just ignored trolling from strangers. They know who they are.

It wasnt your post, but others on other threads even. There just seems to be a lot of ridiculing of the protection collar. I will find out soon enough for myself whether others in real time think the same way about it as people online do. I think cyber collars of protection are silly also, but to be honest I can understand new submissives feeling like they want one in the real world.

I'm not sure I think any sort of "protection" is necessarily stupid. In my experience, sometimes that's just the kinky code-word for "A friend who has more experience than me" and it plays out exactly as you'd expect in any vanilla situation wherein there was a newbie and a more seasoned vet. In other situations, it turns into this weird drama involving the need to check in with the protector at every turn.

I can certainly understand why anyone would want a wingman of some sort, no matter what you call it. When I first engaged with the BDSM scene I was fairly rattled by it all and definitely off-center. I'm really glad that I found a "protector" here on collarme. That helped an awful lot. Of course I didn't call him my "protector". I called him my friend but still... when I needed guidance or a different viewpoint it was handy to have. (thanks SimplyMichael).

As in most things, it's not really the concept so much as the implementation which matters.

Any partner of any stripe who told me they couldn't (in general) make good life decisions would not be a partner for me.
