As I was watching the coverage today I saw something that I found quite odd and even disconcerting.
CNN,using what local feed I have no clue, was airing an interview with a little girl who looked to be about a first grader(certainly not much older)and all I could think was what the fuck was mommy thinking.
Why did any responsible adult think that their child should stand there and answer question about what they went thru today for a national tv audience's edification.

A few moments later the mother was getting interviewed,as she is talking to the reporter, another reporter with a small recorder slinks up and has a conversation with this same little girl. The Mother is engrossed in her own 5 minutes of fame and is totally oblivious to who this is ,or what he is saying to the little girl.
I wanted to smack this mother in her fucking head, her child just walked out of a school building in which a terrible, unspeakable tragedy had just ocurred, and she thought it was right and proper,in the childs best interests ,to get grilled on tv.

Not to make excuses, Mike, but mother and child may both have been in shock and far from thinking clearly.

I considered that DC....and I still came up with "if it was mine,I'm out of there and as far away from the whole circus as I can get my little one"
just sayin

Who the fuck is Fisher, and why the fuck should anyone give a rat's ass what he thinks, or spouts on YouTube?

goodnight:)

Goodnight, Lucy, but if you don't think the social and political implications are fair game, why put the thread here?

When it was the only thread, yes, Mike. After that, they were told to come here to discuss the political implications.

I had no intention of polluting Lucy's thread by saying to come here; I was really just trying to say if they wanted to discuss the politics about it, start a thread in P&R.

Lucy, I apologize if I contributed to cluttering your thread. [&:]

Nice strawman argument - You know as well as I do that Adam Lanza could not have done nearly as much damage with a knife.

Thank you for playing, enjoy the lovely parting gifts.

Now for the adults in the room: we desperately need a serious discussion about gun control in this country. The 2nd amendment was written over 200 years ago - no one alive then could foresee the technology of today. As so many have stated about various topics here: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is one definition of insanity. Based on that, the US has been insane on many issues for a very long time.

This, over and over again .This, this ,this

Alas, yes. Sigh.

Saying what I truly thought of the post or poster would have meant gilded mail.

Sorry Tazzy,I can't get on board with that.I was told the same bullshit after the Colorado shooting.
I was asked to at least give it a day for grieving.
It was bullshit than, it was bullshit earlier, this is P and R,this was a gun violence slaughter on innocents.
If this isn't the place,if this isn't the time....when do we ,in this country ,get the courage to discuss the utter lunacy of "unfettered" and the rest of the Second ?

Do you think anyone would really listen to any reasonable discussion on gun control mere hours after learning 20 innocent children were gunned down in cold blood?

Its not possible.

from the post I think he is another nut case, but apparently because he is religous I am supposed to stand on a street corner and publically denounce him. My question is how many atheists has he publically denounced?

Ill be back to my liberal tree hugging bleeding heart ways in the morning, ready to take anyone on..OK?

Rich.... http://www.rightwingwatch.org/ As to the why, I have no clue.

From Lucy's link:

Bryan Fischer spent the first hour of his radio program today discussing this morning's truly horrific shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut, which he, of course, blamed on the fact that prayer, the Bible, and the Ten Commandments are not taught in public schools.

Fischer said that God could have protected the victims of this massacre, but didn't because "God is not going to go where he is not wanted" and so if school administrators really want to protect students, they will start every school day with prayer:

As a church lady myself, I gotta say it's hard to imagine respecting, much less loving, a God who'd shrug off the slaying of 20 kids, not to mention all the adults killed as well and the shattered families left behind, in a fit of pique over school prayer.

that was before the thread in OT was put up.
have at it if you gotta... it was too much to hope for when I started this thread realy , and considering.... the anger im feeling right now, im gonna log off until tomorrow

Sorry Lucy,I was told the same thing after Colorado,I will be told the same thing after the next tragedy at who knows where.
Believe me I have spent most of the day wiping tears from my eyes.....but along with my grief, along with my unimaginable confusion, there is anger.
Unbelievable anger, anger at the political paralysis ,anger at the public apathy and anger at the criminally negligent complicity of the manufacturers and the lobbyists of the firearm industry in this country.

tazzygirl -> RE: Elementary school shooting. (12/14/2012 6:48:31 PM)

Then why not start a thread on gun control?

slvemike4u -> RE: Elementary school shooting. (12/14/2012 6:58:44 PM)

Piers Morgan has a very interesting discussion going on right now.

TheHeretic -> RE: Elementary school shooting. (12/14/2012 6:59:49 PM)

Thanks, DC. I still don't feel any more need to denounce him, than I feel to provide hits on sites that talk about him. Anybody who goes on the radio with shit like that is only seeking exactly what he has been given here - more exposure.

Sounds like Fischer isn't too far idealogically from Fred Phelps.
