Not really.
I've always felt that those who actually make an effort to live up to the sermon on the mount and the beatitudes are perfectly entitled to regard the sort of "christian" who are more interested in a few stray bits of the old testament that provide a justification for their bigotry than anything Christ has to say as an embarrassment. I'm sure I often sound snide and dismissive about people's beliefs in here, but that doesn't mean that I don't feel that there's a significant difference between adhering to Christian values and calling yourself a Christian because you think it entitles you to special treatment from everybody, whether they share your beliefs or not.
