There is no yes or no here. What you view as harassment/ignorance, in this case, I do not.

In other words, you decline to answer. Your evasiveness is starting to remind me of someone from Idaho.

I just went into Intros and did a search on Mod21's posts there. ModeratorOne made the initial post in regards to the guidelines there.

To date, Mod21 reinforced those guidelines from 2010 to now....

Introduction from 2010 to now....

With the first directing posters to the fact that this has been the guideline since 2004

Way back in 2004, ModeratorOne posted guidelines for this forum. It seems as if some of our members have forgotten what the Intros section is for. The highlights of ModOne's post:

[T]his is a forum for the welcoming and introduction of Collarme.com forum subscribers.

There is an Off Topic Discussion category elsewhere on this board if you wish to bring up subjects other than those intended here.

Pretty clear cut to me... yet how many of us... including myself... ignored those guidelines and got away with it?

Now, going to ModeratorOne's post from 2004...

http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=13130

Is this little snippet of the post.

As the description for this section states, this is a forum for the welcoming and introduction of Collarme.com forum subscribers. At this time, we would like to remind all new members to please familiarize themselves with our forum guidelines posted here.

The "here" link is to this post...

http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=72

Collarme.com Forum Guidelines

Within that post, many things are laid out... including the following...

The administration has the authority to handle situations in whatever manner they feel to be in the best interests of the forum, at that moment, in response to that event.

as well as....

Regarding the acceptability of various discussion topics - in most cases this will have to be determined based upon the essay in question, the content involved, and its particular form of presentation. Topics which are unacceptable regardless of circumstance include, but are not limited to - pedophilia, bestiality, incest, necrophilia, snuff and criminal activities.

as well as....

Your choice to participate on this forum is an acceptance of its guidelines and the authority of its administration.

You DEMANDED a yes or no answer. You can demand whatever you wish. You getting that, from me? lol... not too high on my list of priorities. I see the administration has covered their asses in more than one area. What you view as harassment, Hill, I see as you accepting the above terms, the Guidelines, when you make any post here.

And we regulars get away with a lot, including gold letters which, in all reality, should be bans... why? Because we have agreed to this.. yourself... Posts: 13808 times.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/7/2013 1:18:07 PM)

I don't always agree with HW but he does have a point.

I do feel that sometimes the Mod crew forget that there are poeple and posters on here that are not American and certain phrases/words can have different connotations across different walks of life/cultures/societies/ethnics/countries.

A simple example... the N word.
I think everyone would agree that it's not a very nice word and often used in a derogatory way.
To our friends over the pond in the US, it's virtually taboo and verboten.
Here, although not nice, it isn't viewed so harshly.

The fave term used over the pond "OMG" is almost an everyday expression used in all sorts of ways.
It's not used here that often (by comparison) and to me, it's an overdramatic piece of nonsense.

When you put a whole bunch of such stuff in a mixed bag of forum posts, I often think that mis-interpretation and a lack of understanding (of where certain phrasiology is based/used commonly) does cause much concern if you end up on the wrong end of some moderation or warning.

Case in point -

Them's fightin words. We can't help if if y'all cant speak English the way it was intended.[8D]

You'd rather I didn't refer to people who can't spell "colour" and don't know what pants are as anglophones at all?
[sm=ubanana.gif]

I just don't know about a place where a lot of straight guys suck on a 'fag' on a daily, hell, hourly basis..[8D]

"anglophone" as a word could well be used in a very derogatory way, although it's definition in itself isn't.
And as for HW's comment about a 'fag', I dare say you Americans find that quite funny. But over here, it's just as common as 'OMG'.

And needles has mentioned about context - which in the English language is all important.
But 'American' has very little context by comparison (even though it has its roots in English) and maybe that's why many of our US friends can't grasp that concept so well and retorts to her comments have proven that in earlier posts.
American, as a language, is almost a black & white issue on a word-for-word basis whereas English, is much more convoluted (and sometimes more colourful) by context.

There are also times when people are reprimanded and even banned for using the facilities provided on the other side.
Thankfully, I haven't seen it over here on CC to such a degree.

EVERY SINGLE one of them had to do with enforcing rules EXACTLY AS THEY ARE WRITTEN. No more, no less.
Thank you digging that up and supporting my assertions.
As for the so-called demand that you answer a simple yes/no question, your evasiveness is an answer.

Powergamz1 -> RE: The decline of collarme (1/7/2013 1:32:31 PM)

The notion that it is up to the (non-minority) user of the N word to dictate how offensive it is to minorities, is built on what some folks refer to as 'white privilege'.

Same for the P word, the A word, the W word...

It was a nightmare. A long time member got off his meds or something (I say that because he freely admitted to psychological problems) and created numerous sock accounts. 3 of them were lovely lesbians who lived together.
These three accounts wreaked havoc among the membership and a few people who saw thru the bullshit and attacked their credibility were actually banned.
There were a couple of other accounts under his control as well.

A list of banned topics would actually be quite handy, I'd have thought.

Yeah, including which sections those topics are banned in.

For instance, Chi made it clear Nietzsche's ideas on noble/ignoble moralities are only welcome in the Gorean section, which is one of the biggest "wtf?! are you dumb?"-moments in recent moderation history for me. If you're sorting which ideas go where, it's probably a good idea to have some grasp of either the concept or the categories. Anyway, since I try to take what the mods say seriously, that being what I signed up for by joining here, I find it somewhat annoying that those sorts of things aren't actually covered somewhere.

Even so, as tazzygirl points out, the moderators can do as they please without violating the TOS as such.

I thought that part was obvious; the real debate is whether things are being handled in a healthy way.

Healthy, from my perspective, being defined as what leads to a good forum and good threads.

IWYW,
— Aswad.

P.S.: I do realize Chi isn't dumb. She probably misinterpreted things. It happens. But until I hear otherwise, her ruling stands, even if it's just wrong.

you misunderstand. i do not blame them. my problem is not with fin dommes and pro dommes. my problem is with those who say they don't need a tribute then want you to tribute them. i looked at your profile, you say right out that you are a pro, and mention tributes in your profile. you i do not have a problem with, you are open about it. and its not just the fault of pro and fin dommes. its just something i notice that seems to have changed.

No, I am not lambasting them for the list.
If someone violates a rule ON THE LIST then they deserve what they get. I don't claim differently.
Once again, you are acting obtuse.
I am lambasting them for having so-called 'rules' that are NOT on the list. Christ on a crutch tazzy, you're intelligent. Act like it.

as for The administration has the authority to handle situations in whatever manner they feel to be in the best interests of the forum, at that moment, in response to that event.

Is it not in the best interests an adult forum to not act like it's kindergarten?
As Ive said.

"It's ludicrous that words that can be used in the same context in a church, classroom or parent/teacher conference can't be used here on a 'supposedly' adult kink site.

Talk about the finer points of nailing someone's cock to a pine board to hold him still while you carve your name in his ass with a knife and prepare him to have your arm shoved up his asshole to the elbow all you want but God forbid you tell someone who can't read or write they are 'illiterate'.
