Lizard takes the Depo shot for endo and birth control (I am not ready to be a grandma yet). She just called me, complaining of ovary pain, even after relieving herself (okay, playing with herself). I am calling her doctor on Monday to arrange an appointment of the same day she gets her shot but I am wondering if the endo is at a severe stage. I had it at stage 4 before I had my lap done, resulting in getting pregnant with her. She is tired of being in constant pain and I am afraid of changing birth control methods because of the possibility of clots on the pills.

She just turned 18 yesterday and wonders if she needs an ultrasound performed to check her ovaries. I am concerned about the need for the lap. I don't like seeing my baby in pain but if necessary, I will stand by her decision of what to do.

Has anyone dealt with endo, the depo shot, the lap and the pain issues? My was so long ago I can barely remember it except to thank the doctor for treating me (my periods were heavy and painful before the lap).

Has she been diagnosed with anything? Has she talked to the doctor in the past about this? Is she on any b.c.?

I've never had these issues with my BC, nor do I have such severe endo (I take pills, but one of my roommates takes the depo and I don't think she's ever had anything like that happen), but if it's as serious as it sounds, she may need the lap (is that the decision that she has made, or is it just an option that you're worried about?)

She is weighing out her options. She is concerned about having children in the future and I told her that I got pregnant with her after my personal experience. The endo was the cause of my infertility (long history of miscarriages). She is also concerned that it might be PCOS because she had a few cysts pop on her to where she had to go to the ER doubled over in pain.

Her doctor is considered one of the best in the city in her specialty. I would of gone to her when I came up pregnant with Lizard but I found an OB/GYN who got me on hormone therapy as part of my therapy to keep the pregnancy (progesterone suppositories). Besides, the doctor is on the insurance list where no referrals are needed.

So all I can advise her on is to take Motrin and other pain killers.

She got break through bleeding right now. Just waiting for her to wake up and call me. Mom says she should go to the ER (there is a history of reproductive disorders on my mom's side of the family) and get it checked out.

Oh man :( Well, with all that going on, could she go and do the hormone therapy as well, but just for the pain? If she has such a great doctor, though, I'm sure she'll be able to get the treatment she needs. I suppose it's just a matter of what she feels would be best for her at this particular moment in time. I don't know enough to really give any good advice, but I also think she should get it checked out. My mother had similar problems growing up and when she finally went to the doctor, she found that she had a reproductive disorder as well.

She wants me to call the doctor tomorrow and see if she can get in either tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday morning (she has Math class that she can skip if necessary). She is a bit scared but more concerned about the pain. Mom thinks that a cyst popped. Besides, the co-pay for the ER is $100 compared to $25 at the doctor's office.

She did tell me that if it gets worse, she will go to the ER.

The doctor did find a bladder infection so she is being treated for that. When she called me today, she was still complaining about cramps. I want her to finish the antibiotics first and if it is still happening, the doctor will do an ultrasound on her ovaries.

Meanwhile, I got her working on her classes and practicing on her new violin. A little bit of distraction might mellow her out. I also told her dad to go mattress shopping for new beds. She has been bitching about the coils in her mattress. That might fix the back pains.

Bladder infections can sometimes feel like the pain is near the ovaries. I get bladder infections from time to time. She should finish the antiobiotics. I would think if it was the ovaries, they would have found that when she was at the doctor's office. I would say though that if the pain is so bad that she can't finish the antibiotics then she should go to the ER or her doctor and maybe they could do more tests.

My daughter doesn't have endo, at least that I know of, but she always had extremely painful periods to the point she could barely move. She went on the depo shot and it seems it's actually helping with her pain. She hasn't complained as much now.

There's a lot more to PCOS than ovarian cysts. They're actually only one of 15 symptoms. All it takes is a blood test to find out.

When she finishes this round of antibiotics, I have her schedule another appointment to get it checked out. Got her drinking tea and water since she admit that she has been cutting sodas out of her diet.

yup, cut out all sodas, anything with sugar. It just makes the infection worse. Definitely make sure she's drinking lots of water to flush out her system.

She had crippling cramps last night (she finished her antibiotics) and told her to go to the ER if taking a cocktail of pain killers did not work. She fell asleep instead.

I did call her doctor up and she has a 2:45 appointment this afternoon. Told the nurse to do an ultrasound and discuss the possibilities of exploratory surgery.

I'm sorry to hear she's still not feeling better. Hopefully they can start getting to the bottom of it.

Well, she has the orders for a pelvic ultrasound and the doctor has found white blood cells in her urine, thinking that we are dealing with a possible kidney stone. Lizard is resting right now and I think she is getting the ultrasound tomorrow. She is not on FB so I will call her daddy later to see if she is indeed passed out.

I was starting to think kidney stone when you said she had crippling pain after finishing the antibiotics for a bladder infection. Frankly, the doctor should have found white blood cells in her urine the first time, since it is one of the things they look for in a urinalysis. White blood cells indicate infection. With a kidney stone, they will typically find red blood cells.

The first time I had kidney stones, the ER kept looking for a "female" reason for my pain. The cramps and the pain are indicative of so many female problems.

For most people, she will have excruciating pain, but pass the stone. Then she really needs to adjust her diet. Soda should be a very infrequent treat. Salt is very bad. Cranberry juice is NOT a preventative for kidney stones. It is for basic bladder health. For kidney stones, lemonade (not the powdered stuff in a can) is the one of the best preventatives. Squeezing lemon in water, or making fresh lemonade using real lemons is good. For me, making fresh lemonade is too much work, lol. I will squeeze fresh lemon (or lime) into my water, and I buy "Simply Lemonade." The "Simply" line does orange juice, limeade, lemonade, and I think a couple of other things. But it is fresh lemonade found in the refrigerated section section and is lemons, water and sugar. No preservatives, completely natural.

We are just waiting for the results of the ultrasounds and she was complaining still. I am buying her a heating pad tomorrow. This is interfering with her college work and she wants to get this over with.

If she has kidney stones, a heating pad isn't going to do anything.

I have cysts and was diagnosed with fibrocystic diease by my homeopathic doctor. (Never mind where I have the cysts)I refuse all forms of Western Medicine and take evening primrose oil supplements to help them. This is what I prefer I'm not recommending anything since I am not medically trained. You do what you prefer certainly.

I just called the doctor's office and they should be calling me back with the results (unless Lizard changed who is allowed to get her info). She is still cramping no matter what pain killer she takes.

I would be taking her back to her doctor next week if the doctor was not taking that week off...got to love Spring Break...
