Either you are dominant or you aren't.
Either you are submissive or you aren't.

To ME.
You can't learn to be those things.
You can learn to be a top or a bottom.
You can learn what a dominant or submissive does but that isn't the same as learning to be them.

Example: I am obviously not a duck. However, I can learn how a duck behaves and act like a duck. That doesn't make me a duck.

The OP is clearly not talking about personality traits. Sure you can be assertive or bratty or whatever when you're you are chained down. But that's not the topic and changing things around like that is commonly known as an equivocation fallacy.

I think most men (no matter what role) want to be fucked and tortured to some degree. I think it goes with having a penis. Being "raped" by a beautiful woman is a common fantasy even amongst vanilla men.

And I cannot comment on Mistresses as I don't really view too many of their profiles.

I can definitely say without a doubt, that the very idea of Master wanting to be hurt or raped or tied up or taken anally is just not something you would ever hear from his mouth. He is adamantly against it in any form whatsoever....thankfully. Hell, I accidentally tickle him or lightly scratch him with a fingernail and I get scolded. [:D]

@littlewonder- I am sure you are right...but the OP did not actually say "anally." She said fucked and tortured......in general yeah its "pretty common" amongst men (and no- not EVERY man) but a whole lot of them. And it is not exclusively a D/s thing.

I wasn't talking just anally, it was just one that I threw in. I know lots and lots of men who want nothing at all to do with such things. I seem to only ever run into it on sites like this.

To me, dominant/submissive are internal traits, not actions. Other than the use of empathy, I'm not sure how internal traits can be learned.

Internally, I'm a slave. I CAN take charge and be in control, but I don't like to and choose not to when I can. I COULD learn to use a whip on someone, but then I would be topping them, not dominating them because my nature is submissive. I would be topping them in order to please them. I COULD learn to tie shibari, but that doesn't change who I am inside. That only changes my skillset.

I'm with lw on this one. I only see it "running rampant" on here or sites like it.

Sure, I have heard guys make comments like, "she could rape me whenever she wanted," but knowing those men, I don't think it was said in the secret fantasy type of way.

There are such things as masochistic Dom/mes, hence, the Dom/me can still be in control and say torture me this way or that way. A Dom/me can bottom to, say, a flogging and still be in control, saying when to go harder, when to stop, etc. But, to me, if a Dom/me is tied up - read restrained and no longer in control - they can't be Dominating at that time.

Dominant and submissive, switch for that matter, are personality traits that you either are or you aren't.

Top and bottom are roles that one plays. Anyone can Top or bottom. Even way back when I was a submissive, I could still service Top, but that didn't mean I was a Domme. By the same token, a Dom/me can bottom for sensations but that doesn't make him/her a submissive.

At least that's how I see it.

The part where it validates making assertions on how the human brain works in contradiction to the findings of a field of science. You might as well be saying to me the earth is flat because I couldn't be bothered to look at a globe.

I find the whole thought process baffling.

Hell, unlike most guys, I know what rape is like. When I was in prison, the cats in the next cell over used to turn out the fresh fish at night.
