Most dental schools have a community service piece where at least the bad teeth can get done low to no cost. Then he just has to find money for dentures (unless he lucks into a dental implant class).
Comfort dental chain does free dental work on specific government holidays. Will have to check their website for next date in your area. Know the family that owns it, appliances at cost or free would be possible but likely would involve a waiting period

Yes. he might be able to go to a school.

he has an extreme phobia of the dentist, also it's part of the reason half his teeth are rotting out of his head. he will need to be sedated or put on a something really strong.

WAiting lists would be ok.

I'm pretty sure they can since you live together.

and yeah, most dental schools have cheap or free depending on income, services. Cities usually hold dental days as well for the poor in the community.

If you really look into stuff, I'm betting you can find because of your limited income, you may be eligible for quite a few things. Just google your area and whatever it is you are looking for or check the local government website.

This is ridiculous.

Go in to the SS office and tell a worker your situation. If they determine that he is supporting you then they will reduce your SSI, as they damn well should. If not then you have no worries.

And yes, I'm on disability living on a limited income and I find a way to obey the rules.

You pay no rent or utilities and can barely live on $600+ a month? Do you understand how absurd that claim is. Learn to fucking budget your money.

I do by SSI rules have to give my dad the money, he chooses to keep it in case I have an emergency and need it an not use it yes, but it is gone out of the total I make, I can have it back if I have an emergency, but it's not free cash I can go out and ask for at any whim.

Daddy has his own bills to. Daddy is supposed to pay rent, but he was forgiven rent, in return for everything he does for me and my parents, but he has, Gas, and car insurance, and the car loan he has to pay every month, which would technically take all but 100 of his 300 and leave nothing else, and health care and we are both trying to work out from under massive amounts of debt. Half the time his responcibilities before any play time leave him broke, nearly broke or over drafted, 2 weeks after he's paid.

It's not a case of poor budgeting. Well most the time.

Since your position is that both you and James are renters to your father - who is also on SSI - you have to wonder if your father is reporting the income he's earning.

I don't understand... if you are on disability you should have medical and dental coverage. At least that is the way it is here in NJ, basic SSI gets 2k in savings max, 800 a month max and benefits package. If you don't then you really messed up somewhere

I was wondering the same thing actually after I typed out about dental places. My dad was on SSI and he had medicare. He even had nurses who visited the home that was paid for by medicare. He was on an oxygen machine which made it difficult for him to move around.

TFTB, it really does sound like you're not taking advantage of all that is offered to you out there. You really need to visit the SSI office to find out more.

He doesn't have to report his earnings. He's elderly he's retired he's worked all his life. he's paid into the SSI program. SSI is his right. He's not on it because he's disabled so there for can not work.

Nope, to save money due to state budget issues in California they eliminated most dental care for adults unless one is pregnant or is living in a facility.
They will offer emergency care for infections or emergency tooth removal.
DIn addition, dental benefits are capped per year.

Tfb, another possible resource would be to contact your local NAMI chapter and see if they know where you (and/or your Daddy) can get dental services.
They probably have a list of reduced cost providers.

vision and dental coverage under Medicare is fairly limited. Medicaid coverage varies by state but it is my understanding that adult dental coverage is pretty rare.

There are actually two kinds... Social Security Disability, this is what we all pay into from our paychecks. Yu get to take out of it basically what you put in, the longer you work, the more you get. The one anybody can get is Supplemental Security Income or SSI. This is basically money paid out by the government for anyone who cannot work for an approved reason. You can get more money from Disability, but it is way easier to get SSI

They have free dental programs, sometimes but it's only once a year and you have to compete with literally thousands of people who need the program to, you can be there for 3 days strait an still not be seen, there's so many people who want the program, and they do not handle serious needs.

Thank you, we'll do that! Namai might help, actually.

This, and the ridiculously high cost of living out in Cali, are why I'll stay in NJ thank you

Nope, like someone else said they shit canned dentical. Which was the program that would have taken care of my teeth. if I want my teeth taken care of it has to come out of pocket, or I have to be lucky enough to get seen by a program that has literally thousands upon thousands of p eople waiting to be seen.

Ok. What you have is a big mess, that can easily get messier.

I think the best thing to do would be to contact Social Security with the good news that your bf is moving in with you, effective March 1. Report his little bit of income from there forward, and, since he helps around the premises in exchange for rent, make clear that he does not contribute monetarily to that.

If this creates a minor reduction in your benefits, find a way to adjust, but at least you'll be out of the active fraud category. That is where you are right now. With the income level you are stating he has, you should be basically fine.

Of course, if he uses your family's address as his mailing address, and on his driver's license, and has been since the two of you came together, then I would say you need to speak with an SSI attorney who knows his stuff, before you do anything.

I went to the Social Security website---when in doubt, go to the source. Under the SSI tab there is a section on "What you must report to us" and right there it say you must report if somebody moves into out of your house. So yeah, I'd advise you to report that you have a "roommate". Argue that you didn't like living alone and your dad took in another renter--to be your companion. Oh, is there a second bedroom (with bed or cot) that your bf could move his clothing into just in case there happens to be some kind of a home visit? I doubt that social security would go that far in checking up on the facts, but you never know these days with our growing police state. It helps that you guys aren't married.

Oh and btw, you can have savings, even CDs while on SSI, but total resources must stay below $2,000--unless you have a representative payee, in which case savings can be a bit higher.

Erieangel I was told by an ssi officer herself I couldnt have cds. Because I could cash them at any time I wanted and use the money. If you can do that then it throws off how much they deam u should get.
