zpenguin -> Christian BDSM? (3/4/2013 3:43:31 PM)

So I've had a few people ask me about being Christian and being into the scene if its a conflict of interests. My personal thoughts are yes, you can be both. Granted I know you are supposed to be Married to have intercourse according to Christian Laws but no body is a saint.
I'm am looking to see other peoples' thoughts on this subject.
(I know some people will get stirred up about this so keep it polite please)

OsideGirl -> RE: Christian BDSM? (3/4/2013 3:47:22 PM)

There are quite a few Christian BDSM groups.

deathtothepixies -> RE: Christian BDSM? (3/4/2013 3:47:40 PM)

are you asking about BDSM within marriage or are you asking us if it's OK to have sex ( BDSM or otherwise) outside marriage?

zpenguin -> RE: Christian BDSM? (3/4/2013 3:52:50 PM)

I'm just looking for thoughts on the idea itself.

deathtothepixies -> RE: Christian BDSM? (3/4/2013 3:59:46 PM)

I'm a Unitarian Universalist. We affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

As far as premarital sex, Our Whole Lives Lifespan Sexuality Education Curricula helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives not only provides facts about anatomy and human development, but also helps participants clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality.

thanks for the promotional leaflet about your particular religion but the OP is a Christian not a UU so I imagine his/her beliefs are rather different

Most religious people pick and choose what parts of the religion they follow, and what parts are "outdated" or "barbaric" or "just plain wrong". For example, most have now embraced homosexuality and no longer hate gay people or threaten to kill/jail them. BDSM is the same way - religious people who embrace things like sodomy, homosexuality, sex toys, group sex, polyamory, forced sex, public play, sadomasochism, and other BDSM activities do so by ignoring the parts of the religion they want to ignore, and embracing what they want to embrace. We invent our own religions by picking and choosing from hundreds of available viewpoints and coming up with what we see as "the right way to be a christian" (or muslim, jew, etc).

You don't find many religious fundamentalists practicing BDSM.

Interesting topic.I grew up going to Christian Churches.I always wonder how the 2 conflict with each other.Especially being a male submissive. When in the Bible it talks about the wife must submit to her husband.Like someone said,it seems some people just pick and choose which parts of the any religion they want and ignore the rest.I personally these days consider myself to be Spiritual, non religous.I also do not believe God is only a male.I believe there has to be a Goddess or some form of Female God.Or God has no gender at all.But I don't believe God is just all "HIM".Thats just my opinion.

breagha -> RE: Christian BDSM? (3/4/2013 4:56:31 PM)

after reading the post here i went and did a little internet search to see what i could find. some interesting stuff out there when it comes to BDSM and Christianity.

one theory in particular was something they called "True Christianity" where the submissive ( human beings ) submit to the Dominant ( Yaweh ) and this was in big bold letters "YAHWEH MAKES HIS OWN RULES. TO HELL WITH "SAFEWORDS"

How many of these things are actually prohibited in the Bible?

Hillwilliam -> RE: Christian BDSM? (3/4/2013 8:38:32 PM)

Who said that a D/s household requires kinky sex with multiple people and props?

Think 50's household.
Married monogamous couple. Husband makes the decisions. Wife submits to him in all ways. The Bible Beaters are ecstatic.
